Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
...That none have seen but we alone.
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Okay, so Rosie is now the artist formerly known as Corin, and Hair is Ramius and Ruthy is trini and somebody ate all the lembas and the Shoes of Doom are missing and it's all Darksheare's fault--right? I need to get this straight for when I do the animated version of the wedding film.~Ralph Bakshi
Bakshi, eh--I've been waiting to get my hands on you. . .

Oh, you missed TONS. Like any explanation of why people were randomly turning into animals... and the real story about Harry's parents being betrayed... and tons. But it was well done.
It just left out all the bits that made me cry when I read the book.

Have you ever heard a version of that, other than Willie Nelson's?

Two friends of ours will be ordained tomorrow, in the cathedral in Burlington, VT...which is REALLY the "big city" for us. So...I'm a little nervous about the drive. But we're leaving early enough that we should be able to take our time and park before there's a crowd.

Who's this Tolkien guy anyway? Doesn't he know fantasy is stupid and escapist? Realism, that's where it is. And three volumes is so overdone. Let's analysis the homoerotic subtext, shall we?

Books first, in order, then movie.Okay! I'll probably skip the movie this weekend, then, but hopefully by next weekend I'll be far enough in the series I can see it.
Glad you liked it. Yeah, Gary Oldman is a good villain--was pretty scary in Dracula.

Jim Kweskin's is the version I learned. Didn't even know Willie did it!

It shouldn't take you long to read the books, the first two are easy reads and then the third is complicated. But great.
Gary Oldman reminded me at times of Johnny Depp from "Pirates of the Caribbean", but it worked! Sigh... if only he had been just a little cleaner.

Just wondered... the only version they ever play down here is Willie's. Which is understandable, since he has a big Austin connection.

Didn't that happen to Lazarus Long in Time Enough for Love?Sort of but not exactly. BTW if you see the guy who directed Starship Troopers please hurt him for me.

Probably, which is why I read Heinlein's early works pretty exclusively. He got weird, man.
