LOL!!! I loved Orson Bean's voice...and because I was in a Folk Group at church, the music was particularly appealing (I cringe now whenever I hear it). Orson will always be Bilbo for me. I think I really glommed onto that show because it helped put a picture in my mind for something that was so beyond what I was used to reading...I can barely remember what I had been reading before all of that...Betsy Tacy and Tib and the Little House series were about the only things that entertained me at the time.

I thought the song "Greatest Adventure" was such deep wisdom (well, it is actually!)

Have updated my LiveJournal

I wouldn't say that I have been 'inspired' but the Bakshi...but when it came out, it was thrilling nonetheless...I hve the Fotonovel!...actually, I take that back...Bakshi HAS inspired me...to do a parody! I am going to try and resurrect that this summer. Original people involved have FAILED me...so I am finding new people. God willing and the crik doan raaaz....

Good lord, if I ever meet anyone inspired by the bakshi, I'll have to excuse myself from the room, go outside, and scream.

I used to have a Bakshi poster on my wall between my posters of the Droids and Darth Vader.

I liked Orson Bean's Bilbo :) The voices in that cartoon were generally some pretty big stars--I liked the voices for Gandalf, Thorin, Gollum, and Smaug. "The Greatest Adventure" did have some wisdom in the lyrics; Glenn Yarborough got a little too much vibrato in the vocals though :) The songs I did really like were "Down to Goblintown" and "Fifteen Birds in Five Fir Trees".

Your LJ is great! I love the Faramir icon. I mean, love it. I keep meaning to change my lj scheme, but I barely use it... mostly just to keep track of a few friends, and when I need to vent.

LOL! I'll have to check for that when I get it back. I also have a filmbooks hardcover version which has 130 pictures from the Fotonovel. I read that before I finished the trilogy and it helped me visualize what was going on. Prior to that I had mistakenly tried jumping into the trilogy at Two Towers and had a terrible time trying to read it (at the age of 8 or 9). I had found a copy of The Hobbit in my grandparents' house (apparently my aunt had read it in the 60s), and when I got to the end it said to learn more about hobbits, read LotR. So I got my parents to take me to the library by my grandparents' house, which only had Two Towers in at the time, so I started reading "Aragorn sped up the hill" and had no idea what was going on, LOL! Then I saw Bakshi and after that I managed to read the trilogy.

Got it...thanks! I havent done much to the LJ programming myself, beyond the limited styles they offer. I am worn out with learning the various html languages these blogging systems come up with. Im just happy to have a site that wont be plagued with comment spammers and need constant tweaking...not to mention all the cool icons one gets to use!! Couldnt do that on Moveable Type!

I have found, however, that LJ is quite a bit more leftist in its populace...and not quite as informed as people I have read in the Blogosphere/Free Republic/Lucianne.com. I sometimes feel like I have gone back to highschool in knowledge levels. Not that thats a bad thing : whole new audience to shake up and get the juices going...

"eledhwen"

What's that mean?--sounds Elvish or Potterish or something.

Oh yeah, I can imagine how totally lost you were!! I remember being really angry at Frodo. I was shocked that he actually left the other two hobbits behind. I kept wanting him to go back and at least say "I want you guys along." But its obvious and understandable why he didnt. I just didnt want the team to be broken up. They were so fun to read.

Oh, yeah. Like I said, I mostly use it to keep track of a couple friends, all of whom are lefty college student geek types. Still, it's nice to have a place to rant now and then - I only talk about my life, not about politics, really.

Also it's for a couple friends to read, who don't use ljs, so they know what I'm up to and we can save some time on IM. It's so tricky to coordinate IM conversations with friends on other continents. I only get about one a week with C, and we used to be able to talk every day.
