How about a Top Ten List?

Posted on 05/20/2004 9:29:02 PM PDT by FlashBack

Can the creative minds of the Freepers come up with a TopTen List of why we should not cut and run in Iraq...there's been some comments I've overheard from people who obviously get their news from the Left-Wing...I mean from the Mainstream Media.

Bailing at this point is just so wrong on so many levels that I just cannot fathom anyone even thinking that way...but they are out there.

1.  Because Islam is not going to cut and run, anywhere on the planet.

Welcome to the 9th Crusades.

I honestly can't think of anymore.

It is against International Law to rip a country apart, then leave it in worse shape than you found it. We are required to help rebuild.

1. Guiliana's mafia theory: if you take out afganistan, and leave the rest standing (Iraq, Iran, Syria, etc) the other regimes just get stronger

2. the Arab street hates us, if we leave, they won't even FEAR us.

3. the 700 plus men and women who have already died in Iraq

4. the 3000 who died on September 11, 2001

5. if we leave Iraq, Iraq will probably turn into Iran or Saddam Part Deux

Why leave there is no one there who poses much of a threat. There is a good chance that we can create a functioning Iraqi government that adapts through some kind of political process. Compared to Murder and intimidation that would be significant improvement in governing style.

"if we leave Iraq, Iraq will probably turn into Iran or Saddam Part Deux"

Good point.

Plus, Iran is next on our list (maybe Syria). Iraq is the best place to be when we take out those terrorists in Iran and Syria.

Brit Hume had a great interview with a middle east expert Thursday evening who spelled out many consequeces that would follow if we pulled out.

One of the major ones is that our word would have absolutely no value any where in the Middle East.

I have looked for a transcript, but could not find it. If anyone can, it will be well worth posting.

1. Because the Iraqi Army has yet to take our place.
2. The Iraqi government has yet to take our place.
3. We haven't been asked to leave.

We appropriated $68 billion of our own money to rebuild Iraq, hired the contractors, and set them to work. If Iraqis keep slaughtering our guards and contractors instead of letting them work, this is in no way our problem. We have given Iraq until June 30 to let us rebuild; if they won't, then Im hoping we cut back our presence on that date to a few large military bases, from which we will launch whatever strikes against terrorists in the region we feel like.

In the fashion of the David Letterman Top Ten:

#10: We don't take orders from terrorists or their Leftist puke appeaseniks.
#9: Like the Arab street doesn't hate us no matter what we do!
#8: Unlike Ted Kennedy, we don't just leave people stranded.
#7: Because 1,000 prisoners with underwear on their heads is better than 1 American with no head.
#6: Our being there p!sses off John Kerry, Hillary Clinton and Ted Kennedy...so we must be doing the right thing.
#5: It ain't Mogadishu...and we plan to keep it that way.
#4: More terrorists are at room temperature now than before we went in.
#3: We didn't go in unilaterally, so we're not about to pull out unilaterally.
#2: Freedom ain't free.

...and the number one reason why we shouldn't pull out of Iraq:

#1: THESE COLORS DON'T RUN!

How's that?

That should have been #1.

Everything you wrote sounds good to me except the fact that I really do believe we need to fight these Terrorists OFF U.S. soil. Plus we are bringing more troops into Iraq.
That alone tells me our soldiers will be there for a long time.
