Survey finds: Men with skinny wives/girlfriends more likely to stray

Curves are for keeps

May 14, 2004

MEN are more likely to stray if their partners are slim, a survey has found.

Men with skinny wives and girlfriends could be interested in appearance alone - and on the lookout for someone even more attractive.

In contrast, seven in 10 faithful men prefer their women size 16 or over.

The revelations will be little comfort to Victoria Beckham amid claims her husband David had an affair. The former Spice Girl, who captivated the footballer with her curves, has become much thinner since they married.

Nearly half of more than 1200 men questioned in the survey admitted cheating. Most of those had slim partners.

Sixty-four per cent of men with a partner under size 12 confessed to straying compared with 20 per cent of men with partners above size 12.

Seven in 10 of those with slim partners also said their lovers were too worried about appearance to enjoy sex. Eight out of 10 of those dating cuddlier companions said their love lives were "fantastic and uninhibited".

Another junk-sociology paper done in the hope to reach out and somehow give people the notion that fat women are better for men.

I have learned the following truths:

- Most Men don't desire to be with fat women
- Most Women don't desire to be with fat men
- Most Men don't find fat women sexy or even attractive
- Most Women don't find fat men sexy or even attractive
- Most people do not want their significant other to gain weight
- I need to lose weight in order for attractive women to take me seriously
- Many women will need to lose weight before I will take them seriously.

I say none of these things to be rude, as I am overweight myself. The truth of the matter is that we all have instincts that drive us toward the "perfect" woman or man. Fat people don't do it.

I haven't even gotten to the point of the article either, which is absolutely ridiculous.

I know what you mean with the size discrepancies. I used to be able to count on a size 5 fitting, now a lot of them are too big. I once bought a pair of jeans that fit and they were tagged as size 11/12. I've given up and am going back to sewing my clothes. It's less frustrating that way.

I was thinking the exact same thing!!!!!

My husband is in no way fat, but he is bigger than I am. Not that long ago he commented about needing to think about taking off some weight because he couldn't get his jeans on................the dingbat had grabbed a pair of my Levy's from the pile of laundry I had just finished!!!!!

All skinny women are insane.

But only most of the non-skinny ones.

As men get older, offered a choice of a better looking woman versus a terrific lasagna dinner, most will go with the lasagna.

Glad to say I'm in my late 40's and still wouldn't choose the lasagna (and fortunately don't have too).

True. There haven't been many films set in Tokyo that I've seen where I didn't expect Godzilla to come stomping through. :) But I think she and Bill Murray made a wonderfully off-kilter film. It's not for everyone, but I enjoyed it.

These nutball studies get weirderer and weirderer.

No kidding...next thing you know they'll be trying to convince women that it's not the size of the ship but the motion of the ocean...

I wish I was better with a sewing machine............pillows and curtains are about the extent of my abilities. IOW, straight seams and no fancy stiches.

I don't know... my wife loved it, but I suppose I wasn't in the right frame of mind.

Normally, I'm the one who loves the 'off-kilter' movies and she hates them.

It's often been said that a man will look in a mirror, suck in his beer belly, swell up his chest and think "Man I look great". An attractive women will look in a mirror and only see her self-perceived faults.

Besides, sexy is an attitude not a dress size.

Now THAT is the right response when your wife is in the room. "Better looking woman? I haven't seen one." Responses like will inspire her to go make a lasagna. :-)

Was tax money used to fund this study? Jeeze!

Of course. Our good Republican representatives in Congress at work - I hear they even increased funding at the National Endowement for the Arts.
