Kirk would have cried like a little girl at the first sight of the borg. Picard would have sought to destroy their cube in mecca.

Did you read this article before you moved it to chat, or did you simply see that it had to do with Star Wars and be done with it? The article analyzes the two characters based on current events themes and conservative guidelines.

Okay, I'll bite. I agree with this article. I wonder what Kirk would have been like if he had the technology that Picard had?
BTW, I never really liked Picard. A very wooden character. Janeway, now there was a captain after my heart.

Picard is still the best damn French (star)naval commander of all time. I'd serve under him anyday. Riker on the other hand... Sure he liked jazz but he seemed very unambitious and wishy washy.

There is, was, and only ever will be, ONE true Captain of the Starship Enterprise.

My favs.
1) "Balance of Terror" - Mark Lenard as the Romulan commander (before he was Sarek) was great in this one.
2)"The Doomsday Machine"
3)"The Corbomite Maneuver"

Your use of the phrase laughing at the superior intellect brings back such memories for me. I must have watched The Wrath Of Kahn a dozen times when it was on HBO - it was partly just the thought of Ricardo (Rich Corinthian Leather) Montalban as the villain in the piece.
But one of Kirk's best lines was when he talked to whats-her-name (the character played by Kirstie Alley with funny ears) after she failed the simulation. She said it was an impossible situation and asked Kirk how he handled it. His answer was, "I altered the test conditions" which caused his bitter son to yell, "In other words, he cheated" LOL
