Kerry...urged veterans on May 1, 2004 to 'get out there marching again' for better benefits."

I smell a rat!

Something's afoot here. Kerry's (anti) war standing has been tarnished and they're going to try to polish the image of "war protests" to make Kerry look ahead of the curve.

How much you wanna bet his "band of brothers" is out there beating the woods looking for vets willing to re-create the march on Washington asking for better vet benefits? Maybe around the time of the Rat convention? They know they can count on the media for sympathetic coverage...and a tie-in to Kerry's "courageous" stand 30 years ago.

These people are so easy to read.

I think this is the latest Dem tactic, accuse the Bush Administration of abusing vets and taking away every benefit they've ever received, just like they've done with seniors on the Social Security issue.

Chris Heinz -- John Kerry's stepson -- could be the best thing ever to happen to the Democrats, at least the female ones. He looks like the late JFK Jr., has a Harvard MBA, is worth half a billion dollars -- and is still very, very single. Everywhere the 30-year-old turned at the socialite-heavy book party for Jill Kargman and Carrie Karsyov's "The Right Address" on Wednesday night, he was mobbed by groups of hopeful girls. "He's so cute," cooed one as he passed.

The next generation, all married or otherwise engaged, included Vogue's Meredith Melling Burke, pregnant Marjorie Gubelman Raien, new mom Liz Cohen and candy queen Dylan Lauren. One girl did get lucky: Heinz's tall, rosy-cheeked ex-girlfriend, Margaux Butler, who accompanied him for a secret snuggle outside.

But Heinz was on a break from both politics and romance, mom Teresa explained. He was simply there to support his old friend Kargman. "I'm Jill's godmother," she said, "And her father, Arie [Kopelman] is Chris's godfather." Then she looked around for her son, but he had already left -- alone. (Elisa Lipsky-Karasz, NY Post)

Dick Morris' book is excerpted in the NY Post today. Here's a sample:

Both of the Clintons are masters of subterfuge. But Hillary's deceptions and disguises are very different from Bill's. Bill Clinton deceives himself, and fools us in the process. He pretends, even when he is alone, that he is not doing what he knows he is doing. He never tells his right hand what his left hand is up to.

By contrast, Hillary knows full well who she is and what parts of her must never be exposed to public view. She reminds herself consciously, day after day, which parts of herself to hide and which to expose.

Where Bill's instinct for deception is neurotic, Hillary's is opportunistic. He wants to hide his private life from our eyes; Hillary seeks to conceal her character from our view. But the things that Hillary hides are integral to her political essence. They are who she is and what makes her tick. Her trickery is designed to hide her most basic character and instincts from all of us.

What makes Hillary's unseen side unique is that, for the most part, it represents her real personality, her true self, far more than the person who smiles and giggles at us day and night.

All public figures use makeup to cover a blemish or two. But only Hillary wears a mask of so many layers, one that hides her true face altogether.

Who is Hillary? We need to know. In fact, it's become critical that we do so.

Glad you posted that reminder, Morris' book will be out tomorrow and I wanted to go sneak a peek at Chapter Six. If memory serves from last week, Morris hinted that's where he lays out evidence that would have gotten Blubby not just impeached but removed from office.

I thought Laura's dress and the bauble with her pearls was pink, didn't you say pink too? Well today they're orange?

Bush giving the 'that's the dumbest joke so far tonight' look.

Leno looks as though his dinner didn't agree with him.

I like the impish grin. :-)

I didn't participate in the live thread, and watched only part of Leno's act at the press dinner last night, but what I saw confirmed my theory that Dems have absolutely no sense of humor. They laugh only when the joke borders on nasty. Good-natured joking escapes them. The year Darrell Hammond did the comedy, the libs were just snarling because he got in some real zingers about the Clintons. Every year, Barbara Walters looks like she's afraid a smile might make her whole face just crack and fall off.

Hillary knows full well...what parts of her must never be exposed to public view.

We could've told her a long time ago...her thighs.

Chris Heinz ...the best thing ever to happen to the Democrats, at least the female ones.

Time to put "P." Bush front and center in the campaign. Chris Heinz' hair had that too-oily look last night...so debonaire, you know. Put "P" in jeans and a marlboro man jacket and we'll see who the girls go ga-ga over!

Actually her dress is coral and FABULOUS.

I am pretty sure that that is a triple strand Kenneth Jay Lane necklace with one of his coral broaches pinned on the front.

But really, I am getting sick of those bows on her dress. NO MORE BOWS!

And I agree that the coral is terrific on her...it looked even more stunning on TV.

I am home. Clear skies all the way until about 10 miles out of CR. It was raining when we landed and rained on me most of the way home.

It's 51 degrees here. The corn is planted except for the demonstration plot, half the beans are drilled.

I'm going to find the thread about Kerry falling off his bike. ROFL

No matter how fun the trip, it's always soooo nice to get home!

Question: Have y'all seen the pictures of Iraqi prisoner abuse? The only ones I've seen are the ones with the female soldier in them. And, to me, they don't look real. She seems to be in black & white, while the prisoners are in color. Anyone else notice this?

I saw some of the pics early this morning on FNC. One of them looked like naked people playing TWISTER.

Not very nice stuff. Imagine how they will treat our troops who are captured and taken prisoner from here on out.

I have not seen the photo you mentioned with a black & white soldier and technicolor prisoners. I'll watch for it.

Ladies, I just have to tell about my visit to lodwick's house.

His gardens have 2 8ft (guessing on the height) columns!! It was just incredible. It sounded like the installation was only slightly ;>) problematic. What a treasure to own!

I have no way of knowing how much of an improvement was made during his recent remodeling, but you need to know it is now lovely. Where I was seated on the sofa I was able to look out on the back year which appeared to be "Mostly Gardens". There were hours and hours of back breaking work out there in the lushness.

Pam & I did most of the talking while JL busied himself in the kitchen. Not only did he do the drinks, but he prepared and served the munchies, as well. I was totally impressed.
