Kitty Caption XLIX – Pfc. Hammer and Chess – (Humor/Meow Alerts)

Two topics this week. First a heart warming article. Pfc Hammer (a tiger striped Iraqi Kitten) has found a home in the United States. I have linked the FR thread below (thanks to Sciencediet and Ragtime Cowgirl to bringing this to my attention). The humor side of this thread involves the mind numbing game of chess.

The Knight (also doubles as Viking Kitty Armor).

Meow thinks this is one of the Bishops.

Last but not least, the King and Queen of the chessboard.

To all of you wonderful people, I was shocked when I saw how many replies I recieved in response to my post. I didn't expect any at all, I was only trying to get something that I felt terribly guilty and shameful about off my chest. The revelation that I was not alone and that others have been there has helped so much. Please don't feel guilty. Some things simply can't be helped. You took Grandpaw in when he showed up and gave him the loving home he needed. You discovered the joys of being owned by a cat. Wonderful lil critters, aren't they?
I hope another lil whiskered face steals your heart soon and brings feline joy into your life again.
Just be careful....they can be an addiction and before you know it, you could have a "herd" like we do! LOL! We just can't turn away a stray cat.

I hold my cat in my arms and blow rasberries on his tummy. He just looks around the room while I do it (most of the time). I do the same thing with several of ours, and get the same reaction from them. LOL!
I guess purring is a substitute for giggling.

Wouldn't it be great if we could all be like Dr. Doolittle? :-)

This is one of the things I love about FR. There are people here who will help you no matter what.

Your turn will come when you will be the one offering the comfort.

Seems to be the way the universe works. Someone helps you, you help someone, they help another, and so it goes.

One particular cat walks all over me, but only when I'm asleep. She doesn't usually jump onto me but I do vaguely recall the feeling. She's really nearsighted and gets very close to my face and breathes. If that doesn't wake me up, she licks my face; I am trying to learn to sleep with my mouth closed.

I told another cat lover friend that I did this and my cat's reaction and she said he liked it.

What a great alarm clock you have there!

Bubba jumps up on the bed and knocks stuff off the bedside table to "encourage" me to get up (and let him go outside). Or he'll paw at the alarm clock. I think he's trying to make it go off so I'll get out of bed.

Real men dig cats. Cats aren't domesticated while dogs are. When you partner up with a cat it's a pal thing; when you partner up with a dog, it's a Leader/serf thing. You and Grandpaw were good for each other when you paired up. You gave him friendship and relief near the end of his life and he brought you a zen kind of understanding of cats. I hope you will be able to get another cat and enjoy similar privileges in the future. Cats are amazing.

Feline alarm clocks are all different just like all cats are different.
I have a friend whose (large) cat throws shoes when she thinks it's time to wake up. How scary is that?!

Oh yeah, I have a picture of her! What am I thinking? She's famous here, she's the Viking Kittens' Dispatcher. Molly isn't huge but she is very strong and does indeed throw shoes.

She looks like she can throw shoes and just about anything else she wants! I'm not messing with her. Let me send her some kitty treats to keep her happy!

So, you talk to the animals, very nice. She
can do just about anything she wants.
She served for years in the Viking Kitten Bomb Squad and had more vermin kills than any Viking in history.
She was awarded for her tireless efforts with her current dispatcher job. She didn't really want to quit flying, but an old paw wound made it hard to her to use the stick and shoot at the same time.

At least she is still able to contribute to ridding the world of vermin by serving as dispatcher extrodinaire. Job well done!!

You are welcome. It helps to let it out. Just be ready if sciencediet posts a pic that looks just like Grandpaw. She did that to me. It might make a tough guy cry. I know it did for me and I'm an ex-jail guard from Wanye Co. MI
(Detroit)!!
To: sciencediet
If that doesn't wake me up, she licks my face; I am trying to learn to sleep with my mouth closed. I had to learn that trick once. Buster always knew when it was time for me to get up, and he'd stick his nose right in my mouth if it was open and I was trying to sleep in. Luckily, none of my current crew has figured out that trick.

Maybe it's some kind of symbiotic thing...like that bird that picks a rhino's teeth; too close to bed time to be more specific. What's disturbing is knowing that that end of the cat reaches the other end of the cat.
