Dean Acheson was a snake. There's a book by Walter Isaacson titled "The Wise Men: Six Friends and the World They Made: Acheson, Bohlen, Harriman, Kennan, Lovett, McCloy." What a bunch! I haven't read it, but it should have been titled "A Whole Pit of Snakes."
