Number one should be "Imagine" by John Lennon.

Number one should be "Imagine" by John Lennon.

I absolutely second the notion. I jumped on to post just that. (Though for visceral hatred, his Christmas song possible irritates me even more).

"Ebony and Ivory" earned its slot, though.

Number one should be EVERYTHING from the folksy band "America".

It makes me ill thinking about the songs and their lyrics.

Yes, that is an especially odious dirge, a socialist gazillionaire urging us to give up our posessions, and sniffily positing that us Mere Mortals have no idea how. John was pretty scrappy growing up, it's astonishing he forgot so quickly.

No listing of "Worst Songs" would be complete without SEVERAL tunes from the 1970's, for some reason. Practically anything by Barry Manilow deserves inclusion on general principles, but "I Write The Songs" is especially execreble and should suffice to preclude the dear reader from investigating further. You have been warned.

"Seasons in the Sun"

"The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down"

"Young Girl,Get Out Of My Mind"

"If You're Going To San Fran Cisco"

"Itsy Bitsy Teeny Weeny Yellow Polka Dot Bikini"

I would second that, but would include anything by the mobbed four.

Those boys never could figure out which way they wanted to go.

Ditto "Imagine". All time most appalling song ever.

The local brain-dead FM lite-rock station in NY put Imagine into heavy rotation on 9/11. I am proud to say that I am one of about a million people who jammed their switchboard to have them pull that piece of tripe. They actually apologized on the air...

My pick for the worst is Sherry by the 4 Seasons. I hate that song!

Wow, I didn't even think of that!

But you're right - between being incredibly slow, stupid and asinine w/its BS socialistic view, and also so overly loved by every1 (except us), I'd say it's most overrated song and perhaps worst ever....

Imagine there's no "Imagine".....it's wonderful if you try....
