I just love my rascally Blue Jays. And you are right, they are not the Scrub Jays that you have. I have a hole in one of the posts on my deck. Sometimes I put a couple of peanuts in it just so I can see them turn their heads to eyeball down into the hole. LOL
It was pretty fun to watch the Clark's nutcrackers (a mountain jay) steal the dog's food out of the bowl, while intimidating the dog. The dog was an Australian Shepherd, and she would back up a bit, and watch, then dart forward and snap her jaws at the nutcracker. The nutcracker would retreat, then come back in when the dog wasn't looking.
Nope. No blood.
I like the bluejays too. At the old place, I would put out peanuts for the squirrels, but the bluejays went nuts over them.
Why do you even have long distance service?
I remember camping in California and there were these huge jays in the mountains....they were blue, but as I recall they were a brighter blue than the Eastern Jays. I thought those were called mountain blue jays or something like that. Neat birds.
Nope. Still no blood.
I think this is where you're suppose to say ..
Thank You, may I have another :0)
Why wouldn't I? A phone call to my mom is long distance.
Clark's nutcrackers are found further north - I'm not sure what they're range is, but I encountered them when camping in Idaho and Wyoming. Very fun to watch - aggressive, and not afraid of people, nor, apparently, dogs.
Cell phone's cheaper, if you cam wait until evening/weekend rates.
My cell phone isn't cheaper if I were to use it for long distance.. I have a very limited service plan, because I don't use it much. I looked at a variety of plants, and if I were to get one to cover long distance, I'd pay a whole lot more than I'm paying now. It just isn't worth it to me to do that, and I really don't want to be limited to the evening and weekend hours to make cheaper calls. For a person that makes a lot of phone calls, I'm sure that cell phones are cheaper, but it just doesn't pencil out for me.
Fair enough! Well answered...
These birds I encountered in the mountains around Mammoth Lakes were apparently unafraid of people or dogs either. Very curious birds, it seemed.
Well, did it work?
Don't even talk to me about phone company incompetence! I finally called this morning and raised enough h*ll with a supervisor that they credited my account for a full month of services. Well, duh! Seems only right since I have had OVER a month with none of these services! I still don't have my dsl modem, which I was promised last week and then on Saturday because they were going to overnight it. I still don't have voice mail and I still don't have long distance service. I expect now that it will get taken care of since it is starting to cost them money.
Bailing and hauling hay is less work.
...
Amen!...but only because you don't stop and re-live all the memories with each bale of hay.
We will be upgrading to an assisted living facility by August 1, so the adventure known as life, continues for my father (and the rest of us.)
