Stop laughing, Westy. I don't want to do this again. High heels hurt my feet anymore.
Be yourself. If you don't you'll be miserable and everyone will notice. Also, about the handshake thingie, a woman instigates that. If you put forth your hand, a handshake is acceptable and expected. If you don't extend your hand, it's acceptable and you'll give and receive a nod. The men usually stiffen the upper portion of their body and bend toward you as in a brief nod, you smile real big and say something nice. I usually tip my head, grin real big and ask about their family, Mother, Sister, dog, etc. Or just say how ARE you? Comment about the weather, sports, whatever common ground you can find and do your homework. Ask questions about them, as in hobbies, lifestyle, etc. You'll be fine. I have confidence.
Remember, every man can make Colonel (sp) on his own, but it takes a woman to make a General. :)
I've never been to a horse race.
Once my Grandpa's Shetland pony, Peanut the Meanie, ran through the low branches in the orchard with me aboard trying to knock me off. Didn't work. Nobody bet money on either of us though.
Hey Westy, hugs. Thanks for the pings and the wonderful pictures.
.....Westy.....
They can be. I'll have to find the perfect hat for the Derby. :)
Molly hates WIngs with a passion. I can mention his name and she barks and growls. ROFLMBO. Funniest thing you've ever seen. I tell her "where's Old Wings?" and she goes ballastic. ROFLOL.
.....Westy....
ROFL .. some things don't change .. that is too funny
Oh Gawd. One of my big vices. I love it. Have owned a few and invested in more. I love horses and there is the rub. Some of those beautiful animals, who are created by God and are living creatures, get so mistreated. It's sad. I wish I could say the ones I invested in were never mistreated, but I can't say that. Sooooooo, there you have it. I have some bad memories and made some promises to myself, long ago.
I just knew you would understand. That is what I have always done with the handshake. But, that kissy kissy in the air over another woman's cheek dismayed me. LOL
Oh, it is so delightful, really, to charm with a southern accent (natural, not contrived) and get them to talk on and on and on of themselves...until my eyes glaze over. Now, I not talking of my friends here, but those corporate folks.
Hey, I may not have lost my touch, afterall. LOL
It's also right before I stepped on that dang bee
You steped on a bee?
Well, duh! Look at all of that clover! Bees cannot resist it.
Did Carly win the race?
I would just bet you haven't. Remember the kissy kissy thing is reserved only for the 'best' of friends. LOL. I avoid that if at all possible. Haven't been kissy kissied in a long time. To forestall that, I simply place a hand on their arm, lean toward them, step back and admire their dress, hair, general appearance, etc., and comment on it. :) They feel greeted, special, and unmussed. :)I then comment on their home, child, car, tennis game, golf game, whatever they are into and go on to the next wonderful person. :)
Yea I know .. the clover this year is really bad .. it's all over the place
And no .. she didn't even come close, but she gave it her best shot though ..
It was too funny, cause the bag was huge ... she got to the point she stopped hopping and just walked *L*
Another thing, never, ever get drunk at a Company party. (not that you drink, of course, but general rules for getting established)
Remember the only thing a guest owes her hostess is to mix, mingle, talk and enjoy yourself. :)
(within reason) LOL.
Your girls are the cutest ones. I think of them often.
You steped on a bee?
