Good places to eat in Dallas area?

I live in College Station. In May, some friends from New York will be in the Dallas area (specifically Grapevine) on business, and I'm planning to go up there and take them out to dinner. I'm vaguely familiar with the layout of the Dallas area, but I haven't a clue regarding good places to eat there.
I'm interested in moderately priced ($10-15/person) places that will provide a good taste-of-Texas experience (or at least an experience they won't be able to get up north).
Thanks in advance!

In Grapevine, Esperanza's is the best Mexican. In Dallas, Mattitos or Taco Diner for Mexican, Dickey's for BBQ.

You are right about Houston being HUGE there are LOTS of restaurants here.
For seafood you can't beat Willie G/s on Post Oak Blvd. I love hamburgers at Pappas Burger on Westheimer. Carabbas on Voss & Woodway for Italian food. La Vista on Fountianview. El Tiempo for Mexican food and that is just in MY neighborhood.
Out of the restaurants I mentioned, the one I would go to over all the others is ***Carabbas!!!!!!!***

I forgot Bayou City on Richmond Ave. for fish shrimp oysters & crawfish. There are lots more restaurants if I think of them I'll post them.

I think that is going to be our neighborhood. Thanks for the info. I'll be at the Westin at Post Oak. My work cohort loves Indian food. Do you know of a good one?

Tell 'em to make the drive to central Texas (Austin/San Antonio); the BBQ and Tex-Mex are much better down here! Yep, the Salt Lick southwest of Austin is pretty darn good. Very rustic atmosphere as well, but with the food, you won't care much about the atmosphere.
Too many good Tex Mex (and other Mexican/Latin American) places to list in San Antonio.

come on over to Fort Worth Yes, there are several good places in the old Stock Yards area, and that's not much of a push from Grapevine. Just get on Hiway 121 (north side of airport) and head towards Fort Worth, get off on 820 Westbound and get off that at Beach, and proceed south. I recommend Joe T Garcia's for great Tex Mex, it's a couple of miles inside of 820 on Main (business 287) (it's actualy a block off Main @2201 N Commerce, but there are plenty signs once you get that close. It's just north of the Stockyards historic area.
If you don't want to venture that far, try Don Pablo's Restaurant 1709 Cross Roads Dr, Grapevine. I've not eaten at that one, but the ones I have eaten at were pretty good.

In Houston, try Ninfa's. I've onlly eaten a Houston one once, but the ones in DFW area were good, as is the one in Waco. Their "home base" is Houston, and they have a bunch of them there, wereas most of the DFW area ones have closed.

WRWC has made some great recommendations. I have not been to the Gaylord Texan yet but my parents were there last weekend. My father absolutely raved about it and he's particular on who he gives a "thumbs up" to. There are six restaurants in the resort complex so you should find something to suit everyone's tastes. The atrium features a replica of the San Antonio Riverwalk and Alamo so it's got plenty of native history as well as native cuisine.
Hope ya'll have a wonderful visit, let us know how it goes.

Oops! I didn't go far enough. You will be staying in the Galleria. You can throw a rock and eat any kind of food you want.
Seafood is good in Houston.

It's like that here in South Austin, too. Some of the places places are little family owned hole-in-the-walls. But we digress, this thread should be about DFW eateries.
