Whats the matter with me? Has anything changed?

Posted on 04/15/2004 6:55:11 PM PDT by ConservativeMan55

A little over a year ago I posted a shameless vanity trying to figure out what was wrong with me. Little has changed in a year.

I do things to try and keep my mind off of not having a girlfriend. Such as posting shameless vanities like this one. Its not easy being a 22 year old Conservative that likes to read, watch the news, etc.

So I'm sitting here alone. Typing a shameless vanity. Trying to pass the time until tommorow. Tommorow I'll be 22.

Everytime I talk to a girl she is either taken, or not interested.

Advice? Questions? Comments?

Come to New York City... there are a HALF MILLION more single women than single men here... so much so that women can't afford to say no to a guy just because he's conservative ;)

It will happen when you least expect it.
I was 23, just coming off some bad stuff in my life, went to stay with my grandmother in KY. I went to work in a bar for the summer and she walked in one night. I looked at the guy working next to me and said that's the girl I'm gonna marry.
She was coming off a bad marriage, and wanted nothing to do with men. Thought we were all slugs.
We just started talking, no pressure just "friends". That was in October. We were engaged by Thanksgiving, and married in May. This year is # 17.
One of the ones who says she just wants to be friends may not know that she is in love yet. Besides what better way to make sure you marry the "one". 17 years ago I married my best friend and she still is.
That one poster said be confident. I think that is the most important thing you can do. Just have a good time in whatever environment your in, don't be cocky or arrogant, but laugh like you mean it and dance like no one's watching.
Good Luck and Happy B-Day

Pray, but keep those rows in the water. ; )

And remember that the advice I gave was for how to get a girl to fall for you. Keeping her is a lot more complicated as it requires more effort.

Keeping her means that even after the rush is gone, you gotta actually listen to her, be dependable, and lovingly accept her flaws to the extent she accepts yours. Optimally, you'll train yourselves to view the flaws of the one you love as mere quirks that cost little compared to the rest of the package. ; )

He is some advice I gave one of my buddies with the same problem. "Go to the store, buy a straw and Suck it the F#$% up!" He finally did and now he has a beautiful girlfriend. Let me put it in a conservitive light. Imagine your unemployed.. do you A. wait for someone to give you a job OR B. GET YOUR OWN JOB. I am sure you pick B. and you seem smart enough so that I don't have to explain the analogy. Good Luck. Just my $0.02

I would go out and get my own job of course. Jobs are stinking everywhere. I understand your analogy fully.

I'm too afraid of the NYC dating scene... which perhaps can be as dismal as the rural areas.

I can imagine!

I keep telling myself I should move...but I dunno that it's much better anywhere else. Besides, this is a fun place to live! Just lonely at times.

You give a lot of really good advice! Maybe too much, like you copied your book report of Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus...

GET OFF OF YOUR ASS, SHUT DOWN YOUR COMPUTER, AND GO LIVE YOUR LIFE.... You WILL NOT meet her in your computer room.

Not necessarily! I met ~the one~ right here on FR (we're getting married in two months). And I know at least two other couples, now married, that met online.

And you're only 22! Give it time, enjoy your life as it is.

Oh, and be careful what you post on FR.... you don't want to lose her over something stupid like a Terry Schiavo flame-war.

You're 22? Don't worry. I didn't meet my wife until I was 27. (She's 22, though, so maybe the girl you're meant to be with in still in 10th grade like mine was when I was 22 :) )

Most counties, if not all, have a Republican committee. Mine meets once a month. After, members usually head to the local pub for conversation and friendly hanging-out time. Great way to meet women who share your interests, at least politically. Chances are, if you share the same political views you'll have a lot of common interests.

FWIW, (I'm a married dame, keep in mind) the women who attend our committe meetings are friendly, professional, hard working women and they are all pretty easy on the eyes.

LOL! If only I could write a book like that and rake in the dough...

Nope... Hand over my heart, I haven't even read it or anything like it, and I don't watch shows like Oprah or Dr Phil. lol

I think it's just common sense minus the feminist nonsense. And having all those talks with my single siblings and best friend. And OK... I have a tad bit of a romantic streak. ; )
