This article is directed against the views of the fatherCome on now. Can you explain why Mel's name is in the title and not his father's name?

For the same reason it is like that when it is talked about relatives of celebrities or important people. The technique is used frequently to discredit the well known person. Your examples illustrate this use very well.

The Holocaust was real, but enough has not been said about the Soviet murders of Christians during the Red Terror. You raise a really good point. Hutton Gibson is a crank who won on Jeopardy then fled to Australia to avoid "the big conflict" where his son became a movie star.
You have people who deny -- not necessarily disbelieve -- the Communist atrocities who are poltical leaders, editors and academics and make policies based on this lie. And unlike Gibson they are lionized in certain "respectable" circles.

True, but by leftists. We rightwingers, do not. So I guess this piece could be used by both in different ways. Even if this guy really did mean to use it against Mel Gibson, we know better.

Well, so long ConservativeKnight. Just curious but what kind of troll was he? He actually had me thinking he was quasi-rational.

I had supposed he was rational as well...I didn't see his posts before the zot came and got him, though, the ones that are now removed.

It's actually my mother's toy poodle, Amber. She controls the world.

Your god requires the tax paid support of the state and inculturation of the unwilling unbelievers in school?>>
What do you think SCHOOL is FOR? (We inculcate unwilling unbelievers in the civic skills such as voting. We inculturate unwilling unbelievers in the overwhelming power of the law. There should be no reason whatsoever why 'unwilling unbelievers,' as you put them, should be able to veto the cultural expressions of willing believers. To do so makes the 'willing believers' subjected to the
inculturation of the unwilling unbelievers, or, in the alternative, the willing believers of a radically different outlook: not Judaism, as you so snidely insinuate, but rather red-diaper socialism (and the pile of human skulls that go with it), for which the 'separation of church and state' (which in its modern use is as different from Jefferson's vision as s--t is from shinola) is the true stalking horse.
Isn't He stronger than requiring pharisaic outward displays of ostensible faith (think of the publican).>>>
It's not he who is weak, but us. Humans NEED cultural support for their beliefs, it's part of our fallen nature. I'd rather have my kids singing "Silent Night" (or the hannukkah equivalent) in choir class than "I Want Your Sex."

"What is there to respect? That guy is dilusional."
Leave this 84-year old man alone for he has no power to do anything about anything.
Why not devote your energies to Bush and Kerry, two misguided men who have the power to do a lot of bad to a lot of people and one already is doing such.
