Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Still round the corner we may meet...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Pinging all computer types for help with what appears to be a virus problem I picked up a couple hours ago. I'm logging on from a different computer, as I'm unable to open Windows Explorer, my email, or Norton Internet Security with my regular one. Whatever I picked up appears to have disable Norton Internet Security, along with other features, and also, if I try right-clicking on the tool bar to enable it, it locks up my system. Same thing happens if I try to open My Computer, etc. In general, everything is running slower than normal and locks up if I try to open up a number of programs. However, I *can* get online; but once it connects, if I try to open up Windows Explorer it locks up. Any suggestions on how I might enable Norton Internet Security (so I can download some antivirus updates), to start with? Any help will be appreciated.

I think I have the CD I used to install Norton Internet Security. How do I boot to it?--you mean put it in the drive and hit "Run"?
Thanks for the help--this has been driving me nuts the past few hours.

No, restart the computer with that CD in the drive. Let the computer boot from that CD instead your infected system. then see if the software can clean your HD.

I don't wanna sound scary, but you may have bigger problems than just a virus. Do you have a hardware firewall of some kind on your internet connection?

Okay, let me try that. If I just put the CD in the drive will it do that automatically or do I need to do anything special when it boots up?
