Getting a job these days is about making personal connections. Don't call, or apply over the internet - nothing happens that way. Walk right in to these companies, and do your best to make positive personal connections with the people who make hiring decisions.

Wow, people are losing their old jobs and have to find new ones. Now explain to me 1. what's new about that?
2. How is that Bush's fault?

Please refrain from personal attacks. This is a personal statement.So... you want people to respond to a personal statement in a non-personal way?
Is that another way of saying, "Nobody gets to disagree with me!"?

It all boils down to the fact that there is really only one reason to vote ---- because in this country we CAN.

I fail to see how any of your problems are the fault of George Bush.

Migjagger:
Had a talk with a Chilean best friend this morning regarding Bush, etc. She believes that he won't get reelected because the economy (which the administration refuses to discuss) is in dire straights. If you're relying on a South American woman for your information about the American economy and Dubya's electoral fortunes then I'd say that it is probably for the best that you don't vote.

WHY I WILL NOT VOTE THIS YEARI hate to break this to you, but there are limits as to how much your elected officials determine whether you have a job or not. For all the credit or blame the president receives for the economy, the business cycle is the business cycle.
I was laid off for eight months in 2002. I finally landed a contract position. It took seven weeks to land the next contract after that, and now I've gone another one lined up, with a second choice, before I even roll off this one. And I make better money than I did before, get a lot more variety in my work, and learn a lot more new skills.
Times have changed. But there is also opportunity for those who are willing to adapt, and no president can do that for you. So quit tying your vote to the economy, because there is a much more pressing issue in this election, namely the approach Bush will take against terrorism versus the approach that John Kerry says he would take. Unlike the economy, the difference between the two positions are as stark and clear as they come. And are more than enough reason for me to overlook Bush's spendthrift ways and vote for him come November.

Why did you choose this title? Unless I missed it, it never connected to the body of the post.
To: Migjagger
Good luck. My prayers are with you. I do think, however, you should vote this year. The president can't guarantee you a job, but he can surely work against the radical Islamic menace. If Kerry becomes president, I hope he will have the fortitude to carry on, but I doubt it. Moreover, if we are faced with a new villain, I am not confident in Kerry's ability to adapt. Bush has already proven otherwise.

There's nothing easy about how I got my job! Why should it be easy for you? No attack here, just that I know the sound of whine when I hear it pour.
So I have a job and you don't. Does that just make me lucky? Is that your point?
If I lose my job, (I could at any second,) will you also think that is unfair?
I just don't get the point of posting this to FR. It won't help you get a job, and anyway, what does this have to do with Bush? Is it his fault, too? So you don't have a job and therefore neither should Bush? Whatever.
Good luck, anyway, I guess.....since luck is what you must think it's all about....
