Help! A website with the URL of http://nnsearch.biz/ has taken over my home page. No matter how many times I try to reset my home page back to the Drudge report, this new web page keeps popping back as my home page. I clicked on Tools and then on Internet Options to reset back to http://drudgereport.com, this new web page keeps coming back. So HOW do I get RID of http://nnsearch.biz/ as my home page.
TOPICS: Computers/Internet
KEYWORDS: homepage; internet
Any advice from you techies out there on this would be welcome. Remember, I tried to reset on Internet Options but http://nnsearch.biz/ keeps coming back as my home page.

You have spyware installed. Try downloading and running
Spybot and
Ad-Aware first and report back.

I'm not a Tekie, but I had a similar problem from a Trojan worm called "search V" or W32 dumaru Trojan . I eliminated it with a program called CW shredder. Be sure to put your computer in "safe mode" before running it.
Try doing a search on Ask or google For "Search V"trojan"dumaru" and I would wager it will lead to help
Really nasty and wicked virus. Don't use your credit card online untill it's gone.

One more thing,... this virus was so "smart" it could outsmart spybot, mcaffee virus scan and others.
It latches into the registry and runs as if it is a vital program on bootup.

Have you tried
Hijackthis?
First read theOnline Tutorial
If that doesn't work, try using: FREE AVG ANTI-VIRUS
I used hijackthis to stop my homepage from being hijacked in the past but it doesn't always work. I was able to help a friend get rid of a porn hijacker using the AVG Anti-Virus program.

Yeah. PJ. What Hawkeye's Girl said.
It should be repeated daily on this forum.

I downloaded and ran Spybot. It didn't get rid of that Homepage site but I think it help me on some other stuff. I'll run Ad-Aware later. I did a file search on Trojan and deleted everything with that name. Actually what I REALLY need is a new computer. Any Freeper computer vendors in South Florida here? I'll swing my business your way since I'm in the market for a new 'puter.

Spybot has a cool feature that allows you to lock your home page. Once you get your problem solved give it a try.
Clean out your temporary internet folder of everything except cookies you want to retain. Some web sites slip you hyperagressive java scripting that will hijack your home page like spyware until you get rid of it. Checking the box "always empty temporary internet folder when browser is closed" under the Advanced tab, Internet Options, keeps a lot of that stuff at bay. Saves hard disk space, too.

I just picked up a sweet little deal on eBay. (Micron PIII/866 Mhz...30 Gb drive Windows NT 4.0, LAN card...etc...for only $189) Go look there for a great price on some nice equipment from a number of reputable PC sellers.

I might go the eBay route however I would prefer to buy a new 'puter at the MarketPro Computer Show at the Ft. Lauderdale War Memorial Auditorium. They have the show there about once every 6 weeks or so. I started going their when I found out I could buy a certain word program there for about $30 when the stores were offering it for almost $400. Also bought my fax program and my scanner there as well. The reason why I prefer this show is that many of the vendors are local in case I have problems. Many of the vendors are actually computer store owners who don't want to unload their best deals in their stores because future buyers will demand the same discounts. Therefore they go to the computer shows with their best bargains. Best day is Sunday when they want to really unload their equipment. And pay in cast.
BTW, the same philosophy applies to the Dania Marine Market coming up within two weeks here. Incredible deals on marine supplies offered by vendors who don't want to give the steep discounts in their own stores. A friend of mine a couple of years ago didn't believe me about the big discounts at that show but I convinced him to go. He profusely thanked me for the huge savings he got at that show. I'll be there myself. Biggest marine flea market (once a year) in the Southeast. Maybe the biggest in the country.
p.s. I happen to know that a lot of boat owners will do ANYTHING to get rid of their boats on Sunday afternoon rather than take it home. Basically they are selling the boats for peanuts. If you go to buy, be prepared to drive it away that day on a trailer.

Expires Tonight!! Which means I'll get the same deal (or better) in a few weeks again. Anyway, I can't make any decisions today since I am nursing a cold and a headache. However, I will print out this offer and take it with me to the next MarketPro Computer Show at the War Memorial Auditorium. Rather than have to go thru the paperwork to get the rebates, I would rather just get the discount up front.
