I just didn't think it was funny overall. I'm not a particularly religious person in the least, so it didn't really offend me. It just wasn't funny. It had a couple of humorous lines, but that was about it.
I saw what they were going for at the end- about remembering Jesus's life instead of focusing souly on his death- but I thought they could have done it in a more humorous way. The one where they did the stations of the cross ("I. Don't. Know. You.") was very funny.

I found it offensive because it wasn't funny. Unfunny comedy is as bad as a poorly done commercial--I weep for the wasted opportunity.
What should have been done was something like a cabal of jewish leaders and some Hollywood types (Geffen, etc.) setting up anti-semitic "attacks" to prove that the Passion was anti-semitic. All the while with "evil-cabal" type music and screen shots of them explaining how they're not evil and what they're doing is justified because Mel must be stopped.
Sumpin' like that would have been funny.

There are Christian Christians and there are not-so-Christian Christians.

"I actually found this episode offensive"
So did I. Not neccesarily because the moral of the show was become a better Christian by listening to Jesus' teachings and ignore His death, but because of the way they portrayed Mel Gibson, as he is NOT crazy as they portrayed him.
Before, when they have satirized celebrities, there's always been a grain of truth in the gibes. Sally Struthers is fat and bloated, Rob Reiner an anti-nazi fascist, Oprah is an obese, power-hungry mogul, Barbra Streisand is a shrill leftist and Russell Crowe gets into fistfights in bars with strangers.
But Gibson has never displayed the kind of crazy shown in last night's episode. One of his characters acted crazy, but that was just an act.
On the whole the eppy left me rather discomfited.
If Matt and Trey try to call someone crazy, they should look at their own behavior at the Emmies a few years back, when they showed up wearing dresses...now THAT'S crazy!

Really a boring episode. I laughed maybe twice. And I don't care if they make fun of Christians or Mel Gibson or anybody, just be funny about it!
Maybe I was just spoiled by the absolutely brilliant anime episode.
