It's easy for somebody who has malicious intent to get personal info on you and make your life difficult. Most Freepers are just good peeps you don't have to worry about, but remember, some hostile liberals sneak in once in awhile, and one of them might see something you post and decide to hassle you.

I've known a couple of people who got burned that way, and I see no reason to open myself up for similar treatment. I took everything personal off my home page over a year ago. It is no cyber-stranger's business who I am.

I think it is obvious that I don't--LOL. But some freepers here know my first and even last name. Just depends on who I know well enough and trust with that information. In a climate inhospitable to conservatives, you unfortunately have to maintain some anonymity on forums like these.
Another reason I do it is I have experienced liberal harassment first hand when I used my real names--not on this forum--if you can imagine it was on a list for support for mothers. I said something derogatory about Margaret Sanger and someone on the list sicked some attack dog for some organization MS was involved with on me(she gave a person not on this private list my email, name, etc). This person was quite accusatory and made me feel very unsafe in my own home since she could access easily via my name where I live. While I trust the conservatives on this forum to a large extent, I don't trust the lurking liberals. Many of them are vile and not above harassing and threatening another person, particularly one they disagree with.
