Albert, our 12 year old Standard Schnauzer, has been in declining health since being diagnosed with cancer in December.
Over the last few days his breathing has become very labored and he can no longer control his bladder.
Later this morning we will be having him put to sleep.
This is the hardest thing I've ever had to do.
I won't ask my fellow freepers to pray for Albert, because all dogs go to heaven and this one will be on the express route. I will ask my fellow freepers to pray for my wife and I and to ask our Lord and Savior to give us strength to get through this difficult day.

We're worrying if we are doing the right thing.Trust me, you are doing the right thing, animals doesn't complain much when in pain, so you really have no way of knowing if he is suffering.
Bless you and your wife for being so caring, all dog owners should be like you.

Sorry about your loss- he looks like a cool doggie. May he have fun at Rainbow Bridge until you join him there.

TC, just checking back in this morning to see how you and your wife are doing. I still have you in my prayers, as do a lot of other friends here at FR.

So sorry to hear this. It is so very hard. All my best to you and the Mrs. during this difficult time.
Just before my Mom passed away, she kept having dreams about my Dad being on a cloud up in heaven, reaching down to her. One night she said he was very crowded on that cloud; every pet she'd ever known was there with him.
She really touched my heart with that.

I'm sorry that it had to be this way. I lost one to kidney damage, and it was hard for the whole family.

Thanks for checking. We are all feeling a bit better this morning. I think we can all start healing now.
Watching him deteriorate over the weeks was killing us. We felt worse every day. Now we can start feeling a bit better every day.

Thanks for the update. I've been wondering about how you were doing all day. Give your wife an extra hug tonight...it will help you both feel a little better.
