My mom bought the $100 and found it useful. She's also gone to Pennsylvania three times to look at gravestones and records.

If you've found ancestors back to 1794, you may want to find a group online or something to see what has been done. Or join a family association. I'm not so sure the US census would help you much.

My great grandmother (who didn't die until I was in high school so I knew her and she was a delight!) was a Lewis. It's family lore that her husband's family goes back to Meriwether Lewis of the Lewis & Clark expedition (though not a direct descendent, since I've been told that Meriwether didn't have children). It's my first goal to try to track that down and see if it's true. Then there are only about a million other branches to start working on .... LOL!
