Piers Anthony was lousy. Just lousy, though the 'Apprentice Adept' trio had high points.

Try Terry Pratchett. English fantasy comedy, satirizes everything. Or have you read him?

And for McCaffery - I recommned "Dragonriders of Pern", her best series... starts with "Dragonflight", I believe.

I like Terry, but I'm tired of Discworld... I wish he'd do something stand-alone.
