That's one of the late-period Heinleins. The ones I don't read. So I can't say one way or another.How come you don't read his later ones?

I don't read Heinlein's later works because my dad (whose opinion in all matters SF I regard highly) has told me they are a great disappointment, different in style, story, and content from my beloved juveniles.
I may be missing something but I think I'll heed him on this one...

I've only read Heinlein sporadically -- can't seem to get into the LL series. I didn't like SIASL but I loved one of his later works, "Job: a Comedy of Justice" though I wouldn't recommend it to many Christians.
