Someone on the nursing home staff commented to me today, while I was there, that he had lived there longer than any other resident, and will be sorely missed. That part is sad. But, I'm glad you can realize what a blessed release this is for your granddad. I know it must have been a long row to hoe for him. He is in a better place now. more hugs to you.

Thanks much! I have some things to do first thing in the morning, but I think that before I start calling the siblings, I am going to call the hospital where he was (Kindred? or something like that?) to try to find out more information. Evidently, the nurse did call me this morning (I actually got the news from my brother) either while I was still asleep, or after I left to take elf-boy to school (the upstairs answering machine and the downstairs phone don't agree on the time the message was left). I am not really sure what to do next, since mom is out of town. She was his guardian. I think I may need to go to the funeral home, but I am not sure, especially since I am not prepared to *pay* for anything at this time. I may need to go digging into mom's files afterall (YIKES!).
