The Hobbit Hole VII - But not yet weary are our feet...
Posted on 03/15/2004 1:45:41 PM PST by HairOfTheDog
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
But not yet weary are our feet...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Yeah, I thought of ya, when we picked out that pose! Thought it was appropriate, since you were the reason we were there in the first place!
We had a great time...I just can't thank you enough. My mom was tickled as could be to see Randy Travis...she just LOVES him!

Meanwhile, Bilbo is wearing a kilt today. Fortunately most people don't know the difference between Irish and Scot, so I imagine he'll be OK.

Bilbo's starting feuds up there?

Heh...not exactly.
We were laughing, though, cause we got bagels this morning and the lady there was really rude to him, but he was pretty sure it wasn't because she thought he was dressing Scottish on an Irish holiday.
He wants to get a T-shirt made with a picture of a big, hairy, angry lookin' guy in a kilt with the caption "It's not what yer thinkin'. I'm SCOTTISH!"

I thought it was the English that the Irish had a beef with.

Well...they've got Neil Boortz on now. They interviewed your guy during the news break about the "luck of the Irish" but no music.

A situation has come up within the last hour...something brought to my attention that I need some prayer. It involves Matthew. As you know, he's an unusual child and because of that we've had to deal with some unusual quirks. We deal with them gently and without drama and go on, and I'm in that mode right now. No emergency, no health risk or anything...
Just could use a bit of lifting up.
I'll check in when I can.

I have to confess, I fell in love with the Anne's Pern series so badly, I even wrote fanfic. As a guy, I was fascinated by the universe she created. She hasn't always done justice to her universe, but I still find it fascinating. I'm a few books behind in the series.
I discovered her writing when I was driving around at lunch time, ages ago, and the local classical station had her on for an interview about her latest dragonrider book. She, and the book, sounded so interesting, I bought a couple of her paperbacks that day.
Out of respect for her earlier books, I'll at least tolerate the newer ones. She was the person who got me so enthused with her universe that I actually attempted fanfic.
