there is a Spiderman version of Marvel Masterworks reprinting the earliest issues of that as well:I just wish they would publish the Masterworks editions of Fantastic Four and Avengers in softcover... the hardcover editions are too expensive for my pocketbook.
By the way, have been meaning to mention... the only manga I've ever read is the classic Lone Wolf and Cub. Dark Horse Comics published American translations of all 28 volumes a few years back, and most volumes can still be found at the big chain bookstores. The story: wronged samurai sets out on a long and bloody trail of revenge, accompanied by the only surviving member of his family, his infant son. Jen, worth checking a few volumes to see if you like it, imho!

They were building a new Catapillar plant in Waco when I moved up here. The economy went south and the plant has never opened. When it does, I think I will probably try to go to work there unless I've moved on somewhere else. I always thought I'd like to work on them. In engineering you know.
I will ask Uncle Lynn. He will know. It will probably tickle him to get to enlighten me! :-)

"The problems here are that rebels threaten the families of anyone who works with or supports the US. Many of them have stopped coming to work out of fear." I figure that's the main problem at this point, the people have been terrorized for years, and now that the US took down the main terrorizer, there's still interests willing to use terror on Iraqis in an attempt to seize power themselves. If we don't stay and get the Iraqis on their feet, the Baathists, the Islamists or the Shias are ready to fill the vacuum. In fact they seem to be desperately trying to fill it right now. I guess they figure it's now or never.
Don't know if I'm seeing it right, but that's how it looks from here.

A Brief History of CaterpillarYes, apparently they produced both steam and gasoline powered tractors, before the first diesel powered tractors were produced in 1931.

As a matter of fact, "Lone Wolf and Cub" is on my list of 'order the first one next time you have money'. It looks rather marvelous.
Frankly, any of those Marvel books are too expensive for me, but we'll see. If they're as good as you say...

I just wish they would publish the Masterworks editions of Fantastic Four and Avengers in softcover... the hardcover editions are too expensive for my pocketbook.Yeah, that's why I usually don't buy the Masterworks editions :) The "Essential" series (The Essential Fantastic Four and The Essential Avengers) is cheaper, but unfortunately not in color. They used to have FF reprinted in Marvel's Greatest Comics and in those little paperbacks, which was handy/cheap; I read the first 20 issues of FF that way. Marvel Triple Action reprinted Avengers for a while.

Oddly enough, "Lone Wolf and Cub" was the basis for the movie "Road to Perdition" (with Tom Hanks) which came out a couple of years ago.
The softcover X-Men collections I recommended are only $12.95 each... or you can do what I did when I was your age, and read them while standing in the stacks, without buying them. ;)

Thanks for the report, Steve... of course you must know that there are a great many of us over here hoping for all the best and praying for the same.
I'm just an ordinary American that thinks that what you and your comrades are doing over there is perhaps the most important thing that has happened in the middle east in the last fifty or many more years. Thanks.

I don't even have to stand in the stacks. The bookstores kindly provide chairs.
Now I really am going to bed.

The Essential Spider-Man ($7.15 and up)
Essential X-Men ($6.95 and up)

Yeah, that's why I don't bother with the Essential series... black & white versions of comics which were originally in color don't thrill me. On the other hand, I don't mind reading comics which were meant to be in black & white, like many indies of the 80's & 90's were published.

Google is your friend! ;)Yes it is!!!
I did a bad thing yesterday. Thay recipe I told you that I think is Beorn's honeycake? I made it. Everytime I make it I think I will never do it again because it is SO much of a pain. ....... then, I bite into it. MMMMmmmm.....

Well, good night anyway!

"the most important thing that has happened in the middle east in the last fifty or many more years. Thanks." If we follow through on it, and make it happen, you are very right. I believe that tremendous disaster can be averted if we are successful in this endeavor.
