The Hobbit Hole VII - But not yet weary are our feet...
Posted on 03/15/2004 1:45:41 PM PST by HairOfTheDog
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
But not yet weary are our feet...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

"The King is Gone" by Ronnie MacDowell -- it's an Elvis tribute song. Mr. S2R has a side gig as an Elvis impersonator.LOL! You must get Dread Zeppelin earworms sometimes, too, then :)

Did you hear about the quadruple murder in McKinney over the weekend? Something this big hasn't happened there in some 30 years.
I was driving home from a successful toy exchange at Toys R Us, and saw two patrol cars, about 10 patrol motorcycles, 4-6 TV news vans, and no less than 100 civilian cars on the frontage road on 75. I drove about 1/2 mile, and looked towards them again. Then it dawned on me that this was a cemetery, and that those boys were being buried today.
It was really surprising that anything of this magnitude would happen in McKinney. One of the neighbors did remark though, on the news that there was a lot of coming and going, but that they were quiet family. It makes me sad, but with hearing that, my mind automatically jumps to the conclusion of drugs. I really hope it was a case of being in the wrong place at the wrong time, but it doesn't look that way on the surface.
(I actually read about it here on FR before I heard about it on the news.)

What is it with Tolkien folk wanting to have four names, one of which is really a phrase, not a name. Well, I asked elf-boy his full name today, and he claims he has 5 names.

*blush* Tanks. Yes, that's Big'ol back before he lost those chubby cheeks. Took a while to find a "nice" picture. I'm usually slumming it- jeans, ponytail, glasses, unpowdered...like now. :)

All I have is a button from the 2000 Republican Convention. Given to me by someone who was there.
