The Hobbit Hole VII - But not yet weary are our feet...
Posted on 03/15/2004 1:45:41 PM PST by HairOfTheDog
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
But not yet weary are our feet...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

It's brain tides.

Well, I figured a trip into the Hole would lift my spirits a bit.
You got any reasoning behind your "cheerfullessness" or is it the creeping gloom like mine?

Cheer up!
To: Ramius
Ahhhh! You answered my question before I asked it. :-)
It's gotta be something like that. Nothing has really happened to bring on this downer.

300winmag; excellent presentation/evaluation and the visuals were outstanding, does the Shrade have a thumb knob and is it reversible, I'm wondering about the left handed operators out there. The plastic handle with rubber inserts does make for a better grip, wonder how well the plastic holds up to bug goop and oil.The funny-looking hole in the Schrade is what your thumb uses to get a hold on the blade. A number of knives use holes, and they work well. It also makes them pretty much ambidextrous.
If money was no object (as in, $100+ knives were no big deal), there are dozens of knives I'd give gladly give out. Also other dozens that I wouldn't give away on a bet. When $25 is the upper limit, things get much more restrictive.
Maybe that's why we were so fantastically lucky with the CRKT. It's a production version of what started out as a $250 custom knife. We, and the troops, were blessed to get what we did for $18 each. If I see any more closed out elsewhere at under $30, I'll snatch up as many as I can afford.

Do a google search on "funny" and it is the first thing that came up..... along with some others that I can't post, but wanted to!
My Auntie coming always puts me in a pretty ~good~ mood! at least at first...
To: RMDupree
I actually had a kinda' tough morning. One of my people kinda' blindsided me with a display of general frustration and anger... some of which was my fault. It's not that I haven't heard "bitchin' sailors" before around here, but it was the ferocity of it that took be aback. Made me quiet and thoughtful all day.
I gots peoplestuff that needs fixed around here. That much is true.

Hi there! Above... :-)

Hair! Googling up naughty breakfast pics?! For shame!!
My Auntie is bothersome, but only the first couple of days. Then, I'm pretty much back to normal. She's a crafty, wickedy woman - always popping by unannounced and uninvited!

That's funny... I have a nasty Aunt too. Nobody likes her either. Just ask Hair. :-)

Well that just sucks! I generally let other people's moods roll off my back. I've got enough troubles of my own to worry about other folkses issues. *sigh*
Sooner or later though, another folkses' stuff gets in your face (like what happened to you today) and then it leaves you drained and out-of-sorts.

Mainly I want a job where I am not responsible for other people's happiness.
Not too many jobs like that, I don't suppose.

To: HairOfTheDog
That's not her.
To: Ramius
No.... that is the Queen Mum ;~D
Hey the Seinfeld episode with George and Susan's wedding invitations is on.... they just chose the cheaper ones with the defective adhesive...
To: Ramius
Hmmmm.... responsible for other people's happiness. Newsflash. You're not. If you think you are, they have you fooled!
