The Hobbit Hole VII - But not yet weary are our feet...

Posted on 03/15/2004 1:45:41 PM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

But not yet weary are our feet...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

mom's grandma was an Osment).

There's some Osments in Meridian. One of 'em was a friend of Grama. We're gettin' closer. :-)

This one is beatable, nowadays, in really encouraging numbers. It's not the sentence it used to be, that's for sure...

Very true. I know that's heartening for Corin to know too. With his history he has just been very worried about this. I'm glad we're hearing these reports from him.

The modified "hosts" file doesn't seem to work for windoze 98. I'm coming in thru www.FreeRepublic.info

Gotta get ice cream and cookies and chicken nuggets and milk. :-)

Hey, ya know, that is elf-boy's usual menu for a night on the town. At home, it's peanut butter sandwiches and milk. I used to try to feed that boy decent food, but he just refused to eat. I feel lucky to get him to eat grilled cheese!

In Win98 you might have to use the "LMHOSTS" file instead. Do you see that file?

I just finished watching Overdrawn at the Memory Bank.

The regular movie or the MSTY-fied version? I've only seen it MSTY-fied :)

I just tried the LMHosts file. No joy.

Oh well, this route works ok, for the most part.
