The Hobbit Hole VII - But not yet weary are our feet...

Posted on 03/15/2004 1:45:41 PM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

But not yet weary are our feet...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Naw...just twisting someone else's fighting words into something positive. ;-)

Good for you. I feel really bad for this lady some of the time. I tried to befriend her from the first. But, she has stabbed me in the back several times and I know she talks trash about everyone behind our backs. She is very lonely, but you can't help somebody like that sometimes. Now, mostly I just be nice and avoid her as much as possible. I made sure and went to her office yesterday to show her the dress and how nice it looked. Prolly ticked her off - but that wasn't my intent. I thanked her for it.

Actually, the sun is everywhere, if you can climb high enough... ;~D

DOH!!! I keep forgetting!

As long as we water the heck out of moved trees this summer, we can move fairly good sized ones.

Sounds good! I sure am glad ecurbh is there to help you now! :-D

Yeah, I'm here now. Having a kind of down day. I don't know why. Even Dwight isn't helping. I keep telling myself to 'B***h Up!!' Isn't helping.

I feel like a tumor on
Hair of the Dog's cat
Somewhat removeable
and kinda flat.

I feel a little better now. :)

Rosie, as I was watching 5000 Fingers of Dr. T I noticed that one of the actor's voices sounded suspiciously familiar, so I looked it up, and Hans Conreid, who plays Dr. Terwilliker, did the voice of Thorin Oakenshield in The Hobbit. Hmmm--a link between Dr. Seuss and Rankin-Bass--another piece of evidence in my LotR-PotA conspiracy theory. . . :)

He was in a LOT of movies...did a lot of voices, too. Snidely Whiplash and Captain Hook in the original Disney cartoon, for example. I really like him as an actor...IMO it's too bad he didn't get many major roles.

He really was in a lot of stuff! I'm looking it up (Hans Conried) and he was in several Dr. Seuss cartoons, too.

BTW, I noticed a lot of parallels to other Dr. Seuss books in this movie--Bartholomew Collins=Bartholomew Cubbins, the guys with the long beards are also from Bartholomew Cubbins, the city looks like some of the landscapes in several Dr. Seuss books, the tubby guys chasing the kid reminded me of the Wickersham Brothers in Horton, etc. Cool movie!--very weird, though :)

Well...hello again for now!

Having some ice cream...brother is watching "Return to Me" in Spanish in the other room.

It feels later than it is. Long day, I guess.

Can't remember if you like caramel or not. It's toffee ice cream with caramel and little caramel filled chocolate cups. Kinda sweet, but good in small doses.
