Interesting! When did they come over?

BTW, speaking of Scots-Irish, I have a friend from Mississippi who's trying to trace his Scottish ancestors. Did you find anything helpful for tracing Scottish genealogy in the South?

I had a burrito and a soft taco... mmm...

I actually didn't buy any books, only because I just placed an order at Amazon. So instead I browsed, flipped through one Ultimate Spiderman thing - only comic I could identify quickly enough to get away from the section.

I don't hang out much. Sometimes it's good to just sit and vegetate.

This Mexican place wasn't Taco Bell, was it? :) I usually get a Burrito Supreme with a bean burrito and a soft taco, with pintos & beans on the side--mmmm! :) If it's a real Mexican restaurant I'll usually get one of those really big burritos.

Yes, it is! I am thinking of sticking either a MST3K episode or a Godzilla movie in later for just that purpose :)

BTW, I was reading one of my Ultimate Spidermans yesterday, too :)

I use Rootsweb for my name searches.

What I've learned is that most Scots in America immigrated from N. Ireland through Pennsylvania, then down to Virginia, the Carolinas and much of the South. Although there was a group of Highlanders that settled in N. Carolina, but unlike the lowlander Scots they tended to stick to themselves and didn't integrate much.

Your friend might want to check out electricscotland.com --there's a bit there about the American immigration of the Scots.

Taco Bell is ok, but no. It was a genuine restaurant, run by real Mexicans (we don't have many of those), but they do take-out. They use the tastiest cheese in their dishes. The beef is good but not spicy enough.

Sorry I'm going backward on your questions. They got here between mid 17th--early 18th centuries.

Heh, I just know the song. It's kind of one of those things young geeks are into singing. Like when we walk around quoting - "Hello, my name is Inigo Montoya, you killed my father, prepare to die".
