I find it interesting that there are some people who call themselves Christian who also have a problem with this movie.

People here on FR? Or, just people/critics that you know or have read about?

Because Mel Gibson is Catholic, and they "reject all products of the Catholic Church". They'd rather that NO film be made about the Passion, than one made by a Catholic.

I haven't seen that opinion expressed here on any of the Passion threads I've read.

The "Christian" critics though, have absolutely nothing but their rabid anti-Catholic bigotry. Pitiful, as well as disgusting.

I'm not sure about here on FR. I haven't seen any on FR. I'm refering to people I've met in person, or in chat rooms. I do, however, agree with your sentiment.

It shouldn't be surprising that Mel Gibson made this movie. Previously, he made "Braveheart" and "The Patriot". Both movies were about the individul sacrifices involved in gaining freedom. "The Passion" is about the sacrifice that Jesus made on the cross for our personal freedom.

Mel Gibson has so much more depth of thought than most other Hollywood producers, who simply do exploitive sex or violence movies to simply titillate the audience and make some money. Mel is making movies with a message.
