My memory was that a PCF had a crew of four not six, but possibly at that time they had more folks on the boats. My Vietnam service was about a year after Kerrys, so things might have changed. Rest of the stuff about the PCF seemed correct!

His awards are beginning to smell more and more. Don't you find it odd that Kerry is not releasing his write-up and citation for the Silver Star if it was legit?
Don't understand getting a Purple Heart and not missing any duty time either.
I know some AF types that were in one of the rocket attacks against an AB, and dove for cover -- one guy cut his head as he dove and had to have stiches. Him and another guy in our office used to joke he should have put in for the Purple Heart. He didn't because he said that would have been dishonest!

John Gibson interviewed a military guy today, Galanti I think, who said he was ready to come out of the woodwork if Kerry gets the nomination. He talked about how Kerry's actions affected POWs. He said Kerry's "band of brothers" was just a handful of veterans. I just caught the end of this interview, did anyone else see this?

think about this too. if you were grouped with a man who got 3 purple hearts in 3 months, what would you do? support him or give him a wide berth? i think someone who gets 3 hearts in 3 months MUST be near braindead or lying!

My error. In making my earlier comment, I was thinking of the PBR, where my experience was focussed, not the PCF. The PCF did have a larger crew as I recall the number 6 is correct. The PBR normally had a crew of 4, sometimes 5 when we had a VN intepreter with us!

Well, the Navy was desirous of its share of the medals. The riverine forces were the Navy's primary comittment to the Vietnam war in country and we wanted our "heroes" to go with all the Marines and Army troops who were getting their butts shot off everyday. I did once refuse a Heart when I received a scratch during a firefight. Technically, it was awound and it did require a battle dressing, so it met the criteria for an award. Problem was I had visited the Hospital Ship the day before to check on one of my sailors and saw a young, black Marine who I was told pitched a granade out of his foxhole to protect himself and his buddies. He had all his fingers and thumbs blown off. Looking at his hands which were now stumps, I wondered what this guy with prejudice and racism staring him in the face would do back in the world. So when I was scratched a day later, I told the Lieutenant Commander, "no way." If they wrote me up, I'd refuse to accept it. Over 35 years later, it is still the right decision!

Over 35 years later, it is still the right decision!Thank you sir for all your years of service to this Country. That was such an honorable act on your part and IMO showed real leadership! Bet you were one of the officers everyone wanted to go beyond the call of duty for because you supported them.
You have just pointed out better than anyone I know the difference between someone who served with honor and someone who was in Vietnam to get his ticket punched to be the next JFK.
Thank you for your service to our Country and for protecting all of us over the years.

Sean is getting too "PC"
Tried to belittle Ted Sampley's valid thoughts
Sampley was gentleman, but it was obvious Sean was wimping out to praise Kerry's instant run of medals and papercuts
Hannity is trying to kiss up to moderates and gain more dem listeners
Never hear El Rushbo stoop to that!

I was thinking about that earlier in the evening. Sean LIKES Kerry and won't say anything against his Military record at all! He has made the remark that he's had Kerry on the show and thinks he is a really nice guy!! It's hopeless, he's got his mind made up!

At times, I have found fault with a few of Sampley's allegations again John McCain. I think Sean Hannity might also be aware of same.
