If you could wave a magic wand on Election Day to improve the Election Process (not the result), what single thing would you wish for?

That all voters would have to show picture id and voter registration before being allowed to vote.

To be asked, along with everyone else, to show my ID prior to voting.

I wish for low Democrat voter turnout. That means no votes from dead people, pets, and non-citizens (i.e. legal or illegal aliens).

What kind of magic genie are you? Only one wish? I have several!
Here are just two:
1- Opti-scan type ballots (electronic w/paper trail) at all polling places.
2- No votes tallied ANYWHERE until all votes are cast EVERYWHERE.

Every geographical area gets penalized, rather than rewarded, for the number of illegal immigrants living there. Let's say California's 4-5 million illegals, which translate into about 9 extra congressional seats for the state were instead penalized 9 seats. Since illegal aliens are usually, but not always, a drain on taxpayers, suddenly California's 55 electoral votes are reduced to 39 (9 for the reduced population count, 9 more for the illegal aliens being harbored).

Meanwhile, states who support legal immigration either by mowing their own lawns or hiring Americans to do so would pick up those extra congressional seats-- one for Oklahoma, one for Nebraska, two for Pennsylvania, one for Mississippi, etc. States aand localities whose political goodies are based on population would suddenly be trying to hide, rather than count, their illegal aliens or-- heaven forbid-- turning them in for deportation.

I will wish for a computerized tallying system that has a paper trail, some sort of receipt system, and is completely off-the-shelf and open-source. If you've heard of the company "Diebold", you know what I'm talking about.

Cap the electoral votes at no more than 30 per state.

Check out:

http://www.fec.gov/pages/2000turnout/reg&to00.htm

FEC data on registered voters and 2000 voter turnout! Look at Alaska and Montana. They both have more Registered Voters than there are bodies in the Voting Age Population!

1. Move voting day to April 15th
2. Anyone on welfare for over 1 year may not vote.

Change it to April 15th, and only small furry animals can appear in campaign ads.
