I don't see "made in God's image" any kind of problem. There are dozens of ways to make something in someone's or something's image.

Is God a slowly balding, middle-aged, pudgy Trekkie? Then one might not say I am in the "image of God." Is God a loving being, with (unlike the rest of the animal life on Terra firma) the ability to remember the past, make plans for tomorrow, consider and evaluate, understand Agape, and love His children? I think so.

I have always taken "let us make man" to mean that God, the Father, and Christ the Son (and assumedly the Holy Spirit) were all there at the Beginning of Space and Time, and all in on the Design.
