No kidding. Do we really want to tick off a being that managed to come here via an unkown power source, who just may have on it's person a self destruct mechanism for the ship and itself and who's buddies might be sitting on the dark side of the moon waiting for the all clear message that says we aren't a bunch of a-holes?
Something tells me that if they could send one ship that far that they could send more. And the more might be bigger and better armed than the ambassador ship.

Currently, this is all nonsense--this point was passed long ago. And we had no such control over the process at all. Perhaps with some of the first captured ET's we effected such protocals for a period of time. But mostly, this is archaic nonsense.
