Nice to see you sir!

Hey Molly I need some advice.......how can I get my hands on a copy of LIFE Magazine dated April 23,1971?

It has a big spread on Jane Fonda and her getting involved with the antiwar movement......there is a big photo spread of her attending those rallies........there has to be a Fonda-Kerry photo in there.

Would I find it at the Library?

Hey nic are you close to the Library of Congress?

If you are not hearing the WH press conference you should, biggest bunch of junk I have ever heard. If there is any question where the press is on this election, just listen.

If not the hard copy of the magazine, the library might have it on microfilm or fiche, and could print out the material you need....or direct you to a library which would.

For example, you might have a regional library system which could fill your needs.

Call your local library and ask to speak to the reference LIBRARIAN & ask the question you asked me.

Douglas Brinkley, Kerry's biographer, is hinting that more photos of Hanoi Jane and Kerry may very well surface this year!

Dog, your library ought to have Life magazine from that period on microfilm. It may also be on a digitized archive. As Molly Pitcher wrote, ask your reference librarian. If you can't find it, let me know, and I'll put it on my list next time I'm at the Libray of Congress, which will be in one or two weeks.

Elsewhere, there are some fabulous new resources you can use, the product of those great American traits, genuis and competition. The last century of popular magazines and newspapers are being digitized. Unfortunately, the NY Times and Wash Post have taken advantage of it, but so, also, has the Wall Street Journal. Proquest, to which your library likely subscribes, has digitized these journals from the 19th century on, and you can key-word search them with great accuracy. Try it out on Kerry. You can search via article titles (limited) or article text (expansive and will be overwhelming), but it will dig up every instance of the word "kerry."
