Now, that Dandi Dinmont captured my heart! He was adorable.

Wasn't that fascinating learning it was named from a fictional novel's character?
To: Indy Pendance
That's why I love this show! Still miss Joe Garagiola though.

What a beautiful dog - Kerry Blue Terrier!
To: Indy Pendance
It's the life of a carnie these days. I am glad to be retired from the game - and so is my dog. (However, he used to love it - he kinda thought of dog shows as dog parties!) Lots of work, lousy food, in the elements, on the road, many disappointments, lots of back-biting folks, etc. etc. etc.....
To: A Citizen Reporter
Joe sure liked the toy breeds didn't he. I always got a kick out of that!
To: anniegetyourgun
I can imagine there is a lot of pettiness and backbiting, especially locally where everyone is trying to advance.
To: A Citizen Reporter
I enjoyed Joe's enjoyment of the dogs too! I really appreciate David Frei on these days - he's from my old stomping ground, and very good at this. But what I really miss is Roger Karras - "the voice of the Westminster" who died a few years ago. The guy who is doing the narrating at the show is doing a good job though.
To: Indy Pendance
Yes....to put it bluntly - it gets "catty" - pun intended!
To: anniegetyourgun
You're right. The announcer is doing a good job but it isn't quite the same as Roger Karras saying "it's an headstrong breed, doing best with an equally headstrong owner."
Isn't David Frei from out here in the Pacific NW somewhere...I'm not sure why I think that... and aren't "afghans" his breed?
To: anniegetyourgun
That has to be the most frustrating part of showing dogs. Some people want to take the fun out of life.
To: not_apathetic_anymore
Are there penalties for owners or handlers if a person gets out of line?
To: anniegetyourgun
Its on tonight?!!!!!
This is the last night of my TV fast!

(I won't be satisfied until I am too smart for my own good)

Right on all counts regarding Frei.
Jack Russel is now Parson Russel. Interesting they changed the breed name. Could it possibly be because the Jack Russel is too popular and having breeder problems?
To: apackof2
Then you won't miss the BEST IN SHOW tomorrow night!
To: Indy Pendance
Barney's clone is on now!
To: Indy Pendance
Bull Mastiffs are really sweet dogs but they can be very stubborn and need a strong owner

I wasn't clear on that last exchange. Is there still a Jack Russell terrier (with short legs) in addition to a Parson Russell? Or did all Jack Russell's get renamed?
How long have you been out of the show business?
To: Indy Pendance
Clubs make those decisions - reasons vary. For example, the old "Brittany Spaniel" is now just "Brittany." Breed club wanted to drop what they considered redundant and "common" and keep the part of the name that emphasized the French connection.
