Coulda been a stash for something small... jewels, or drugs, or microchips...
Here is a drum just like it.... my burn barrel.... for size comparison.... What I keep thinkin' about is that I have dug a lot of holes, and it is not easy to dig a big enough hole to bury that thing upside-down but upright and flush with the ground.
