I don't think it's a personal dislike, they are just trying to correct the misconception that its a true story, because it probably isn't.

I'm still looking forward to seeing it, though.

Yeah - That Longriders Guild is a long distance endurance racing association that initially researched the legend because they wanted to believe it for their own lore. They just couldn't authenticate it.... They found all kinds of reasons not to believe it.

There just isn't any evidence that any of the races he says he won ever happened. No newspaper coverage or anything. And the Arabian race, that they said had gone on for a thousand years? - No one in Saudia Arabia has ever heard of it.

Our friend Mr. Hopkins loved to tell tall tales, and this was likely one of them.
