The Hobbit Hole VI - And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...
Posted on 01/31/2004 9:52:08 AM PST by ecurbh
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...
The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

Say, the weather weenie is saying we may get 1-2 inches of snow here tomorrow night. Y'all gettin' any weather up your way?Yep, they're sayin' we might have snow tonight. I have all I need to wait this out without leavin' the house. Surprised it's getting all the way down to ya'll though!!! I've got a frozen pool of water in my back yard that didn't thaw today. That just ain't right!

Agreed Mr Mag.
I got into a most disagreeable argument with one of the guys in my office some weeks back, and it really left me somewhat stunned.
He's a bigtime Bush-hater, and I knew that going in. Whatever, I figgered. I've got facts on my side. No worries.
But as the discussion deteriorated over the space of the evening it became clear that his hatred of Bush was far beyond any rational explanation. I finally had to ask him point blank what really upset him so much about Bush.
"Because Bush will suspend the constitution and will set up a Christian Theocratic government and will outlaw any further elections."
I just sat there with my mouth agape. What do you say to that? I'd like to think he's just nutty, but I really think that he's merely a window into the current "progressive" thinking. I think this is what they really do happen to believe.

"Because Bush will suspend the constitution and will set up a Christian Theocratic government and will outlaw any further elections." Doesn't make sense at all. How *can* they think that?
I've run into some pretty vehement Bush-haters but never gotten a statement like that. I would categorize myself as a Bush-lover sure, but I could actually wish that his policies would be more Christian. I'm thinkin' he's takin' a cooperative middle-of-the-road position on several issues in order to satisfy the libs.
I wouldn't compromise as much as he does. But, I wouldn't be electable to office either.
disclaimer: this is not bashing, just what I think, I'll still stand up and fight FOR him with anybody.

Ah, ok... just wanted to check and make sure the weenies hadn't gone crazy. They're saying it will be in the 30s here all day tomorrow, rain starting early, and then as it gets colder in the afternoon/evening it turns to sleet/freezing rain/snow, and keeps going until Saturday morning.
Could be fun!

I got the box the water heater came in just sittin' out there goin' to waste... As long as it is next-day overnight I wouldn't think there's any problem with that. The 3-day bulk rate might be problem though..

I'll take good care or him... I mean that... maybe this summer he can come out fer a little... adjustment...Know what, that's a good plan. PQ's mom and I used ta trade kids sometimes when they were teenagers. Some things I could just get through to PQ that her mom couldn't.... and vice versa. It was a good thing. And both girls came out better for it.
And ya'll prolly kinda figgered out how PQ wormed her way inta my heart.

Naw, it wouldn't work... heard a story on the news recently about a guy who shipped himself using FedEx (packed himself in a box and everything) and got prosecuted for it... violated security rules!

I can't be certain Bear but I don't think we ever got above freezing here today. There was ice falling last night for a little bit. Nothing stuck on the ground. It was wet, had been raining all day... and just before it stopped raining it got icy. No precip today but they're saying maybe tonight.

These people really *really* think that Ashcroft is the reincarnation of Torquemada.
Geez... when people that that irrational is there really any hope in argument?

You know, actually, that guy is the mirror image of the conservatives who were afraid Clinton would use Y2K as an excuse to declare martial law and suspend elections.

It's pretty discouraging. Y'all met him (pinged the Entmoot list), he's a good kid. But we seem to have hit the same wall we did last year about this time.
He's been in a foul mood since Sunday and last night with his grandmother was the last straw for us. So I told y'all we had a "talk."
Apparently he went upstairs and trashed his room. It is often difficult to tell, but the plastic was pulled down from the ceiling (I have someone coming Wednesday), his tv was turned over (gently of course), a drawer was pulled out...just a bunch of stuff.
I may have gotten through to him this morning though. Told him I was gonna take pictures and send 'em to the youth pastor and the youth leaders cause we know he don't act like that when he's with them.
He tried to redeem himself this afternoon 'cause there's something he wants to do Sunday. Right now I want to say no, but I want to make sure I'm not just sayin' that for spite. We'll see how he does tomorrow.
Keep him in your prayers. I told him I know how miserable he is (of course he said there's no way I could know). And I told him how much this whole thing with Nana had upset things for all of us, especially his Mom. Not sure it registered.
