Goodnight.

Isn't Ramius *in* that movie? Back when he looked and sounded a lot like Sean Connery! Oh baby!

The Dals are Very pack-oriented. I hadn't thought of them as wolf-like but that might be because I have no experience with wolves! But the traits Wneighbor describes are quite accurate to my experience with Dals as well.

I think partially I was able to bond with them so well because I was single when I had them. Had their been a significant other in my life - I don't think I could have handled the wolves. They are very pack oriented and will adopt the family as a pack but only want one adult to be alpha to them.

Very interesting! Makes sense. We had a husky-lab mix who was part wolf and you could see the same trait in him to a lesser degree. He'd recognize my Dad as the alpha because my Dad was the one who usually fed him, but he treated my Mom and brothers and me differently.

The second dal that I had was a little over a year old when I got her. She had been left alone a lot because of work schedules and consequently had done a lot of damage in the house. When I got her I told Myranda not to expect much out of me for at least a week because I was going to bond with this dog and teach her to behave. I came home everyday and spent hours just with her. Well, Myranda did too. We just lavished love and attention on her. Within 3 days she was obeying and fitting in. We did have to show her a lot of attention daily. And we had to run her daily. But, it was so well worth it. She was just tops!

I've never been around Dals but I've heard they have a reputation for being difficult to deal with sometimes. I wonder if the bonding thing described is the explanation for that?--like maybe people who have a hard time handling them haven't bonded in the way the Dals relate to.

Not the guitar! Rosie played her mando while Mug played the fiddle and Bilbo played his smaller pipe. They were wonderful!
