The Hobbit Hole VI - And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...
Posted on 01/31/2004 9:52:08 AM PST by ecurbh
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...
The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

As a matter of fact, I was at Parker and the Tollway. We had lunch at McD's, and then ventured off to find the doctor's office. Wow! There are some ritzy homes in the area.

"On September 23rd." 1998. A date that I will remember forever. It was when my dad passed away.

I don't know any more about what happened other than what she said in her email, about forgiving him. It was a sad time. My throat still gets tight whenever I drive by the cemetary.
I was just so emotionally involved in this child...she had been through so much, fought so hard, (even to just be born) and accomplished more than anyone ever hoped, she was almost done with all the procedures they needed to do for her...she only had the trach still because she was having some reconstructive surgery on her skull...a relatively minor procedure, from what I understood. Then she got congested, mucus in her trach, and the mom debated whether or not to take her to the ER herself...opted to call EMS to "be on the safe side." The EMS guy had the settings on the ventilator set for an adult when he placed it on the baby.
We just thought she was almost out of the woods, physically...there was some pretty bleak times that little one fought through.
It wasn't like she got sick and died...it was just so sudden.
Obviously it left an impact on me...I've talked about it before here in the Hole, and just to stand in Walmart crying again today I guess pretty well means I'm not over it.

I swear, I couldn't get my printer to work for the longest time! The paper wouldn't feed! So I hauled it down and took a look-see. Something appeared jammed down in it! I got my nail file and popped out what appears to be a piece of petrified fried CHICKEN jammed down in my printer!!
Now my printer sits up on top of my desk...way up...top shelf of my desk. How a piece of fried chicken got jammed down in my printer is beyond me.

That's how I make Pigs in a blanket...just take a thing of canned biscuits, wrap 'em around a little smokie and bake. They are GREAT!

I wonder how it would go if you baked those. hmmm.Might be able to change the recipe so you could do that...maybe add eggs and flour - without flour I think they'd just turn to mush. But I have a peanut butter cookie recipe I really like, so I've never attempted it! It WOULD be a way to make healthier peanut butter cookies, I suppose.

How terrible sad. such courage is inspiring.
To: 2Jedismom
That is too funny. I have only one little boy and I wonder how things happen in my home. You have two! There is no telling how that chicken got there.
To: msdrby
Tentatively speaking, though the doctor thinks it will be late March-early April. Be sure and let us know!

Quick and Easy Pigs in a Blanket
1 package hot dogs or smoked sausage links
1 can crescent roll dough
Preheat oven 400. Separate dough into triangles. Roll up links in dough,
starting with the link at the wide end of the triangle. Place on ungreased
baking sheet, with the tip of the crescent underneath (or it will come undone a
bit as the dough rises in baking). Bake for 10-15 minutes or till golden brown.
Serve with cheese sauce to dip (or ketchup for those with four- and
five-year-old connoisseurs).

I would have liked the Star Wars ones!
I'm sure there MUST have been Masters of the Universe Shrinky-Dinks, too. Surely!

They might not turn to mush with enough milk powder and baking powder added or something. I might try it and see. Feed them to the dog if they do.
To: msdrby; 2Jedismom
Thanks! That sounds easy enough. I thought that was how you do it but wasn't certain. Do I bake according to the crescent rolls instructions? And do I use a whole, a half or a 1/4 of the crescent? Those little smokeys are little!
