Back when I lived in the country it didn't even take a day of viewing I didn't want for me to escape outside. I found a whole list of good excuses. The sun is nice. The rain is nice. It is warm. There are flowers. The dog wants to play. Lots of reasons to go outdoors! :-)

What is going on I wonder.... is your house settling and torquing right at that spot and the pipes are failing to bend with it?

Great pictures. Thanks

Pipin's sister is going in for surgery Tuesday. She's ask me to ask you all to keep her sister in your prayers this week.

is your house settling and torquing right at that spot and the pipes are failing to bend with it?Yes, exactly. And that plumbing was installed in the mid to late 60's so I guess it's just gotten to the point where age has weakened the joints to the point of giving.
When the plumber was here in August to repair the last one I asked him if it would be better to go ahead and do them all at once. He said that he trusted the old that had held for 40 years more than the new materials. I don't know if you have any memory of the photos I posted last summer but this plumbing was really badly done and there isn't really any way to replace it without taking out some of the foundation around my back door. *That* is not a place I want to go. I suppose I will stick to fixing one leak at a time at $50 a pop. Better than a massive destruction and rebuild project... at this point.
And looking at this from a home owner's standpoint, the upkeep on this house has cost me a lot less than upkeep on the 100 year old house did. I've been in here a little over 2 years now and I've paid a plumber to come twice at just $100. Much better than some of the crisis at the old place.

Has the red carpet nonsense started yet? Is that what you were watching?

What's on now is the pre-pre-red carpet stuff.... they have been doing stuff like comparing the best and worst dressed from years past. Sitting around talking until someone important shows up.
I think the actual live arrivals start happening in about another hour.
To: null and void; Pippin
Certainly!
Prayers for Pippin's sister, and will be hoping for updates!
Check in with us when you can, Pip!

I have been runnin' around, getting the stalls cleaned and getting showered and such so I am all ready to sit and watch!

Well, we're back. The Passion has left me speechless. Much has already been said that I can add a hearty amen to. This film has added a marvelous dimension to my relationship with my Savior. Thank you Mr. Gibson.
Big'ol and I debriefed on the way back home and we agreed that the portrayal of the Sanhedrin is not an indictment of the Jews, but rather one against intellegencia and elitists of all the ages, the "secular humanists", and people who are so vain as to make their own rules and call them eternal Truth and then condemn those who don't follow them. Hellenism is alive and well and writing film reviews today.
Watching the Oscars now will be interesting. PJ and Gibson have raised the bar on the Hollywood Establishment so high and so fast it may take years before they even know it's happened. I'll watch with amusement as they congratulate each other for another year of mediocrity and look down their noses at the likes of hobbits and elves even while grudgingly giving them statuettes. Even if they don't give Mel his due next year, the rules for filmmaking in America have changed.
I feel blessed to be a part of this moment in time.

For anyone who doesn't have cable or E!, it looks like red carpet stuff will also be showing on the local WB station, whatever channel that might be in your area.

Welcome back LF!
I am glad you are with us!
To: Penny1
Hullo Penny! Will you have eaten when you get here at 6:30 or should we do burgers?
To: HairOfTheDog
Thanks- I just checked in on the Oscar Live thread. Can't wait to start lampooning those ratty dresses.
Speaking of dresses, the one you picked for your wedding is the sweetest ever! Suits you completely: modest, carefree, beautiful details.

I was thinking about grabbing something to eat on the road, so you certainly don't have to wait for me. However, I've never been one to turn down food, so it's entirely up to you. ;)

See, but we hobbits have style, and Hollywood doesn't...

Thank you so much about the wedding dress! - I look longingly sometimes at the tiny bodies in gorgeous fancy gowns, I just don't think I could pull off a pretentious dress! It just isn't me!
