Blogging through Basic Training

A couple days ago I launched a new blog for my friend Jeremy. I've known Jeremy for around 6 years and he's always been interested in computing and technology and was about to set up a blog of his own before he left for Army Basic training on the 20th. We both decided it would be a cool idea to "blog" his training, but there was one problem. The Army relegates the time of its recruits and does not for very good reason allow them free access to the internet or in some cases phone calls home. So that means that Jeremy is stuck "blogging" in much the same way that countless other soldiers before him have... the only difference is I turn around and post them via Movable Type to his site. So if you're curious about the experience of a fresh recruit at Army Basic (from the perspective of a guy who would more likely be found reading Slashdot than Guns and Ammo) check out www.JeremyHall.com. And Keep him in your prayers.

This is cool. What's his MOS? My kid is in the army. Nuclear, Biological and Chemical. She just took her rifle test, scored expert and was selected to learn the Fox. She's at basic at Fort Leonard Wood, MO right now. Don't expect a lot from him during basic, he's going to be busy.
Can we get a ping list?

Sorry for the long time with no replies... I have updated with more letters. I'm not sure how to do a "ping list" but here is a link to the site's syndication feed.

JB, need to fix the address above to link to the home page. WOW...lots of traffic & great read. "Thank you" to you and your pall! Glad he made the mile run ok!
"At around 10 this morning Glenn Reynolds over at Instapundit linked to Letters From Ft. Benning. Wow! Wired Magazine wasn't kidding about him being "The Blogfather", within a couple of hours the daily hit count had gone up from 25 to 1000+ per day! Its great that so many people are now able to see Jeremy's letters (just wait till he finds out)."
