The problem is, people don't respect you if you lie on your back day after day, and complain. Americans don't understand true pain at all. And your self esteem takes a huge hit, because you feel useless. So the temptation to overdose on pain pills is huge, because nobody need know you are anesthetized up to your eyeballs. This is exactly right. I stayed in carpentry for six years each year working less and less until I finally couldn't take it. No one understood why I couldn't work. No one understood why I stayed at home and didn't do things with them as usual. It took a long time to work back from that.
I never took drugs because my father was a doctor and I knew what would happen if I went to a doc and went down that route. I knew better than to trust a doctor; many people have faith in them. Everyone of the tens of thousands of people who become addicted to Rx drugs trusted their doctor.
When Rush's doc prescribed Oxycontin for him he told Rush that it wasn't addictive. The pharm co's were telling doctors it wasn't addictive. Turns out it is more addictive than heroin or crack.

CBG, OldFriend, Mamzelle and some others managed to get a thread locked last night that had a link to Rush's website for the purpose of e-mailing Krischer, the prosecuter in PB. That is their purpose. They want to disrupt or kill threads concerning Rush. There are others and they are obvious. Ignore them. They will say anything to inflame you and get a reaction.

I was just thinking, Palm Beach state attorney Barry Krischer's releasing of private correspondence between Rush and his lawyer should at the very least cause this case to be thrown out, mistrial, or something like that! There can be no mistrial without there first being a trial. It can't be thrown out. There's nothing to throw out. Criminal charges have not been filed.

It'll be a happy day when the likes of his mind-control crap leaves this board for good. And replaced by Lanny Davis, Tom Daschle, Michael Moore, Al Franken et al?
NO THANKS, but, if you want to, help yourself to that Koolaid ...

That's how I found this thread too, by seeing it on his site as I was looking for some other information.
I don't know why people believe they can go out of their ways to be obnoxious to Rush and insulting to his audience and friends, and then feign surprise that not everyone is going to go along with that.
If our buddies the other real true conservatives keep it up, FR will have no conservative-Republican allies left.

Wow. Hero worship to the nth degree. Are you intent on killing the message or the messenger?

24/7 is the inner sanctum of Rush bots. You pay a yearly fee in order to be able to access the "insider" side of his website. Several talk show hosts have followed suit, including O'Reilly.
And thanks for your hard work defending the Great One. Sheesh! Some people around here must expect him to live a sinless life. Anyone with a lick of common sense would know there was only ONE sinless man.

That's an interesting take on it. The respect of others.
My own hero was Roberto Clemente. A great baseball player able to throw a runner out at home from deep right field. Golden gloves, golden arm, golden bat, golden heart. His race? Gold! Died in a plane crash flying relief aid to Nicarauquan earthquake victims.
But one reason I've always liked him, a secret reason til now -- your insight gave me to realise what had been there in my own thoughts for a long time -- is because a lot of sportswriters down-talked him. Because he always complained about his joint pain and soreness. They labeled him a complainer.
The sports writers felt there was no way he could be having those pains and aches, given his athletic greatness. So to some degree during his career, during his lfetime, Clemente's legend never got that big. It was blocked for his being labeled a whiner.
The circumstance of his death initiated a closer re-examination of Clemente's record and life. His personal greatness -- a man of gold! -- shown through.

Rush's kind words about FR bring heaven knows how many Newbies to FR, yet those malcontents who post here do their best to destroy any good will Rush might have for us.
It's truly mind-boggling to see and frankly, I'm beginning question the motives of some of these posters who're bashing him.

Some people around here must expect him to live a sinless life. I was pointing out to some last night that I could commit 4-5 traffic violations moving my car from the front of my house around the block to the back of my house.
It's a revenue-enhanced world out there, now.
The English of the 1770s could have learned something from our little bureaucratic masters in this day and age.

In ALL the many years I heard Rush, not ONCE did I ever hear him mention back trouble . . . NEVER. Apparently you didn't listen enough, because he has mentioned his back problems over the years. I used to listen to Rush every single day and not miss a minute of the show. If I couldn't listen to the whole show, I'd tape it. I did that for about eight years. The past few years I've listened a bit less, but not much. I might miss an hour every week or so. I'm a major Rush addict, no pun intended.
He most definitely has mentioned his back problems. Take it from someone who HAS listened to him for eleven years.

"Rush is an absolute disgrace. I've lost ALL respect for the junkie. He only got concerned when he got caught, and not a minute sooner. "
Gosh it must be amazing to be you. Never making mistakes and all. Conservatives like you scare me.

"Gut check -- would we really feel the same if "Clinton" and "cocaine" were substituted for "Rush" and "pain killers" in your paragraph?"
Bad analogy. Rush made ONE mistake, Clinton's whole existence is a mistake.

Thanks for the info. I had no idea. The last I knew, Rush was considered an ally to FR rather than an enemy, and his FR fans were able to create threads in support of him without worrying about having the thread hijacked by the perpetually disgruntled.
