Two of the nation's most prominent Jewish leaders said yesterday that they had watched recent versions of Mel Gibson's unreleased movie "The Passion of the Christ" and found it anti-Semitic and incendiary in the way it depicted the role of the Jews in Jesus's death.
One said he was angered that a scene he and other Jewish leaders had found particularly offensive remained in the version of the movie he saw, though Mr. Gibson had once said publicly he would remove it.
~~snip~~
Rabbi Hier said he was "horrified" by the movie, which he said depicted all Jews, except those who were Jesus's followers, as villainous, with dark beards and eyes, "like Rasputin."

The man who was pulled from the crowd to carry his cross was from Cyrene, IIRC.

The Centurion of the Italian Cohort whose servant he cured, a Samaritan woman who he met at a well, probably a bunch of Egyptians when he was in Egypt in his childhood, the Persian Magi, among many others I'm sure.

From NewsMax:
"Sources at Icon Productions were surprised to learn that the uninvited ADL officials had registered for the Christian conference under the name "The Church of Truth."
You can't make this stuff up!

But it was at the behest of the Jews. No, it wasn't at the behest of "the Jews". It was, according to the gospel accounts, at the behest of a few collaborationist Jews who were politically powerful in Jerusalem.

The Jewish LEADERS of the Sanhedrin condemned Christ and requested that Pilate approve the execution and supply the killers, since, as subject people, they couldn't inflict capital punishment themselves.
The Jewish people weren't involved, the Hellenized, Roman-butt kissing, greedy, power mad members of the Sanhedrin did. They viewed him as a threat to their authority because of his popularity with the Jewish masses. When the "crowd" called for Christ's execution, it was probably liberally sprinkled with Sanhedrinic plants. I doubt if the mass of the Jews to whom Christ administrered approved of what was going on, but, then, it was not a Democracy and the only jury and judges were the Sanhedrin and Pilate.
The Bible mentions that the women of Jerusalem wept for Him.
In actuality, WE killed Christ. You, me and eveeybody who has ever committed a sin - not the Jews, not the Sanhedrin, not Pilot, not the Romans. Anybody who fails to perceive that doens't really "get the message".
If Gibson followed this line, the production would be both more accurate and less antagonizing.

Okay, if you want to nitpick, the people behind it were Jews, as opposed to Romans, Greeks, Hindus, Buddhists. I think you understood my point.

Too bad dudes. What the bible says is what the bible says, and the bible is Gods Word, so these particular jewish leaders have just called God Himself anti-semitic and incendiary. I believe that is called "heresy"

The Romans were just the executioners. They carried out a sentence pronounced by the Sanhedrin and approved by Pilate.
Pilate had recently had his fingers wrapped by his bosses in Rome for not preventing the eruption of riot in the volatile city. They wanted taxes and tribute, not dead Jews. Dead people don't pay taxes. Pilate, fearing another riot and another censure from Rome, o.k.'d an unjust sentence.
See my last posting on this subject.

I get the message and I know the history. Sometimes I make the presumption on FR that I am discussing things with people who are able to understand what I am saying without a detailed explanation. Obviously, that is not always the case.
