Kerry's Vietnam war buddy on NBC's Today right now.
NBC Today Program | 01/22/04 | Self

Posted on 01/22/2004 4:54:28 AM PST by Bloody Sam Roberts

Katie Couric is interviewing a man named Jim Rassman on the Today show right now. Jim Rassman is a Vitenam War veteran who credits John Kerry with saving his life in combat.

During this interview, he admits that he was contacted by Kerry campaign workers and asked to appear in Iowa to promote John Kerry.

I was amazed that Kerry would use this man for his own political agenda. Furthermore, one must wonder...how is this so newsworthy that an appearance on the Today show is warranted?

The Democrats are in deep doo-doo when the only candidate they have left that hasn't been exposed as a bald face liar, is Al Sharpton...... Go figure

We just got moved to chat? Um, isn't Kerry's campaign being caught in a lie newsworthy? I'm not too sure many will see this in the chat forum.

I'm not going to question the service or reactions of anyone who actually spent time in a war zone.

Then I guess by your standards condemning Benedict Arnold is out of the question. Arnold too was a decorated American Soldier. Decorated for bravery under fire. He was credited with saving the day in a fierce fight with the enemy. As a result Arnold was personally decorated and promoted by General George Washington.. That was of course before Arnold changed sides.

Will you post that Benedict Arnold should not be judged? Or is being a traitor OK as long as you serve and get decorated first.

Exactly...he's a traitor and turn coat to any cause he embarks on...except himself. But in reality, one day, unless he turns four square away from this path (unlikely IMHO, but Saul did), he will stand before the Judge of all and find that he has betrayed himself the entire time as well.

Did he really admit that?

Oh yes he did. Mr. Rassman said he was in Los Angeles and was in a book store with his wife and picked up a book about Kerry by an author whose name escapes me at the moment.
He said he read in this book, an account of the battle where a wounded Kerry pulled him back into a gunboat after he'd been knocked overboard.
A few days after that he said he'd been contacted by Kerry campaign workers and asked if he'd be interested spending a few days in Iowa. He replied that he'd be happy to if it would be a help to John Kerry.

I was amazed at how blatantly Mr. Rassman was being used and he didn't think anything of it.

His record of service is not in question...neither is his record after his service.

I have no problem pointing to both...the fact that he honorably served...and the fact that he dishonored that service when he got home and allowed those actions of dishonor to propel him into political office.

Them's the facts.

Kudos to you for even watching the Today Show.

I was only watching to see the spot they'd been promoting featuring the latest 'fired' employee from last night's episode of "The Apprentice" with The Donald.

The weasle Sam got fired (finally) and I wanted to see if he'd actually would cry when interviewed.

After the interview with Mr. Rassman, I shut it off, disgusted and turned on the PC for my daily FR dose.

Now go wash your eyes and ears out with soap.

I use 'FR' brand soap for the eyes and I'm washing out my ears with some delicious Buddy Guy blues.

Yes, it was reported it was the guy who called Kerry. Interesting how the truth has a way of always coming out. What irks me is that Kerry did no more than any other would have done for a fellow soldier. We do not leave anyone behind. Yet, the way he's playing it out is sickening. Besides, one act does not make a president.

John F'n Kerry was pandering scum in 1970, it has been my contention for many years that the only reason he served rather than head North was that he wanted to be a pol.

As cibco pointed out in another thread he got the SS for actions, that in any grunt company was an every day occurrence, I don't know the details but I do know that the SS wasn't given away even in 1970 but then again the other Kerrey got the Blue Max under circumstances that were not quite clear.

As to his Purple Hearts, I had guys in my squad with double the number, but then again they were Enlisted Scum, and didn't get a ride on three.

I saw Rassman interviewed, I believe on Fox, and he said in that interview that he picked up the book, read the account of his rescue, and then called the Kerry campaign. He deliberately left the impression that he had initiated the contact.

Sounds to me like someone knew the truth and has spilled the beans, and they are trying to get the story corrected before it becomes a liability.

The Today Show airs in a little bit here and I'll try to remember to switch over and catch this.

Please do. I'd like someone to verify that what I heard was actually what was said.

The segment aired in the first hour of Today at approximately 45 minutes into the show.
