January 14, 2004 -- DENVER, Colo. - Kobe Bryant's accuser allegedly suffers from bipolar disorder - and may have been in such a "manic state" at the time of the reputed attack that it boosted her sex drive and willingness to bed someone, the defense is charging. The basketball star's legal team, in court papers released yesterday, quotes John Ray Strickland, one of the accuser's ex-love as saying she is bipolar.

I took it to stop smoking, but it made me dizzy, which is one of the contraindications (?) so I had to stop.

I'll second that. I've been on Zoloft for the past 7 months and it has made an incredible difference in a positive way.

Exactly. A friend of mine takes Seroquel and Wellburtrin so I think that cancels out her sex drive. ;-)

From what I gather, he's suppose to just sit back and take it. Anything he may do to try to defend himself, even if truthful, can and/or will be characterized as character assassination.

As if he knew what her psychological profile was; he barely knew her an hour, FGS.

That's why I don't feel all that sorry for him --- he should have watched some movies like "Looking for Mr. Goodbar" or "Fatal Attraction". When you're too eager for quickie sex --- then you can meet up with a nutcase. Sex and mental illness aren't good mixes.

Yep. It's a "guilty-until-proven-innocent" situation, doncha know. And, the accuser couldn't POSSIBLY be lying, since she plotted to meet KB before he ever arrived, arranged to show him around the place, and put his bodyguards in rooms as far away from KBs as possible.

She's also a bi-polar schizophrenic, which KB should have known before she ever went to his room.

There was never much to this case, and there's less and less as time goes on.

I don't feel sorry for him either; he made his own bed, blah blah blah.

That being said, it doesn't mean this was rape. And further, I believe he's entitled to know just what HER mental state was at the time of this little incident.

In the last six weeks, I have had the opportunity to see the "Domestic Violence" arm of the legal system at work up close and personal; my son's closest friend asked his wife for a divorce and she promptly called the police and told him that he had been beating her for a year. She made the statement "You will either stay married to me, or I'll put you in jail." I heard her say this; I told the magistrate what I heard; and he told me that even though he didn't believe her, it doesn't matter: once SHE makes the charge, he is REQUIRED to issue a warrant, even in the face of evidence proving she is lying.

So now he is facing a trial for domestic abuse, of which he is most certainly NOT guilty, all based on the word of a woman who has sworn to destroy him.

How is that fair? Where are HIS rights?

It's a damn cult, I tell you.

At the same time, before I send a man down the river, I want to kown beyond a reasonable doubt that he is guilty.

Amen.

Maybe I'm just in that percentile who did worse under the drugs than not. Some years back, I was having anxiety attacks while going through divorce. The doc started me off with Prozac, which put me on Pluto. They then continued with a series of drugs which made me worse & worse. I only got better when I took myself off them after about 9 months of incapacitation.

I think they actually did more harm, since it made me unable to try to keep my family together. I think the doctors saw my insurance card, and kept racking up the bill and playing CYA.

With each revelation from her past, she looks less and less believeable.

So, if Kobe's going to fight for his life, either way, one must look to the credibility of the accuser to determine whether KB actually raped her, as she said.

We must also look at forensic evidence, as well as expert and contemporaneous witnesses.

While conceding that she's no angel, some of things I've seen cited as impeaching her credibility can be seen in another light as making her a more likely mark for a predator. I expect there will be expert testimony for the prosecution to this effect.

With each revelation from her past, she looks less and less believeable.

Eye of the beholder, that's why we have trials. I don't find Bryant particularly credible.

No, it's not. It's just "guilty."

The only way he could prove himself innocent is to question her motives and mental condition -- and, doncha see, he's not allowed to do that; why, that's "trashing the victim."

He should just be taken straight to jail, based on the word of a woman whose accusations must be etched in stone and not questioned, lest he be accused of using the "nuts and sluts" defense.

I would think most groupies are a bit mentally off --- but apparently there are even warning signs with them. When you're a celebrity and a woman you never met is very eager to have sex with you ---- you're stupid to take her up on it. Apparently some celebrities have bodyguards that know how to size up the groupies and let only certain ones have access to them.

Don't knock psychotropic drugs until you've tried them

Sometimes I think the world would be a much more "chill" place if everyone took a "med" or two :-). Wellbutrin (Buproprion) has been great for me personally. I had no idea I was mildly ADD until I got to medical school (by the grace and blessing of the Lord, I made my way through high school and college without much studying). I had no idea that I would have a problem sitting in one place to study, but I did. Since one of the popular off-label uses of Buproprion is ADD in adults, I started taking it, and it works well. I don't get a "buzz" like I did with Ritilin, but my ability to concentrate on tasts at hand is the same.

My only problem is that if I drink too much caffien while taking Buproprion, I can get PVC's (a type of irregular heartbeat, although not necessarily dangerous, you don't want to have them if you don't have too)

Most people have brains that work "normally," so they cannot relate to people who use these drugs. They're lucky.

Cool, that's a great reason to shag her!

Ah, are you too dense to realize the exact same thing could be said about her, the heroine of this little episode?

He's a basketball player; we all know about them, right?

What's her excuse?

Err, dude, her excuse is that she was RAPED. That's what the trial is for.

And, of course, the prosecution will have to provide evidence that indicates that Bryant is a "predator."

And that he was sharp enough to size her up as a defenseless schizoid in an hour.

He deserves nothing but condemnation for his actions, but he doesn't deserve prison, either.

I guess you've completely forgotten that she is the one that made all the "arrangements" for this little incident, haven't you?

Why do you suppose she put Kobe in a room all the way across the hotel from the other three guests in the hotel?

Why do you suppose she crept back to his room using the back halls?

I don't think it's rape --- not when a woman does everything she can to get into some man's hotel room --- a man she never met before, and is getting into consensual sex the minute she walks in. No wining, no dining needed. She wanted sex ---- that much is obvious ---- she's maybe unhappy that it didn't lead to more or being bipolar, her perceptions of the event really did change in her mind.
