Put into this perspective it is a very compelling arguement. The fact that it is simple to grow and easy to acquire for anyone is probably the biggest issue held against the use of medical mariuana. There are a lot of powerful corporations with lawyers who don't want to see an alternative that would cut into their profit line. Oh, and the WOD people want their money too.

Still, it's amazing how recently we are seeing better results from age old homeopathic medical treatment. Even more amazing how the medical "establishment" seems to be so slow in embracing it themselves. I guess the problem is, anyone can do it.

I have a hard time with the fact that prescription drugs can be prescribed, and marijuana can't.

Prescription drugs have awful side effects and can "kill" your liver.

People with MS who use marijuana say that they can replace several of their drugs (anti-spasticity, pain, muscle relaxers) with just the marijuana.

Actually, most folks with MS don't take regular narcotic pain killers for the pain, they take one of the anti-seizure meds like Neurontin or Tegretol because the normal pain meds don't help with neuropathic pain and the anti-seizure meds seem to help.

After Montel's show yesterday (Tue), a friend who is without internet access asked us to do some research on this subject. Their cousin has MS and has found that marijuana improves her quality of life, yet is afraid to discuss it as a treatment alternative with her doctor. For her, this current media blitz can be a life altering event and I must say, I applaude Montel for putting it all out there.

As for as daytime talk, I've always been able to take Montel better then the rest of the 'flock' of talkers (tho I do find the show's reverence of Sylvia Browne as anyone other than an interesting lady with unusual beliefs disturbing). His service to our country has always gotten my respect as has his apparent sincerity in matters of accountablity and responsiblity. I look forward to seeing how this plays out in and out of the media.

I would also like to see how some others feel about the current Montel media blitz and their take of what he is currently professing.

Hope you don't mind the ping... I was wondering if I've overlooked some WOD threads on this topic, have you seen any?

Thanks!
